Hey Everyone,

I'm having a pretty rough patch. I live in Indiana in which marijuana is not legal but my question is has anyone ever used it to help them relax and sleep? I've never done any kind of drugs besides prescription to help me sleep. It seems to be one of my worst symptoms with Lyme. Which obviously doesn't help my fatigue and all my other symptoms.

That said how does it work and do you have to smoke it or can you just take it as a pill? Sorry, I have no clue.

Need guidance and perspective here please.

You can get edibles.

The place where I purchased my CBD oil also had Canna oil which had higher THC (the CBD oil was almost O THC)

Canna oil : THC= 14.5% CBD= 4.5% CBN .05%

The dose is the size of a grain of rice.

This is a canadian supplier...but there are places in the U.S. - I'm not familiar which States have legalized it.

Oh good, don't wanna be smoking it. Have you tried it? If so did it help, I know it's suppose to relax you but enough to put you asleep for the night? Ive tried Ambien, Trazadone, Amitriptiline, Sonata...and lots of herbs

I use melatonin up to 2mg before sleep and it usually helps but there are days when it's not enough. In such cases I smoke some marijuana and it always works like magic. I recommend using some dry herb vaporizer with temperature stabilization: it gives you the possibility to dose very precisely (for me very small amount is enough) and it makes it easy to inhale as there is almost no smoke. If you are new to this there are two main types of cannabis: indica and sativa plus tehere are also hybrids (sativa mixed with indica). Those two gives different results, for me sativa is better but I guess everybody could have different opinion on that.
I live in contry where it's illegal too but nowadays it's quite easy and safe to buy very high quality stuff on internet smile

Drez here is an article I got today in my mail...... coinky dink?????

www.prohealth.com/library/showarticle.cfm?libid=29944&B1=EM030117L&utm_campaign=Email%20-%20Newsletter%20-%20Lyme&utm_source=hs_email&utm_medium=email&utm_content=43567399&_hsenc=p2ANqtz-_z5FJe28h-AaYjsUqGozl0YpycxHCA9BXVc4ppsFY1YSiq8olc-9d0YHAshVWvWWR_x_OUw_JPFpPHXbtIBy0OUmYXnA&_hsmi=43567399

I used Benadryl for a couple of months... not every night, but here and there.... especially if I felt I was behind on my sleep.

It is a good article and I highly suggest you read it and take from it what you need and leave the rest alone.

I used medical cannabis for sleep last summer and fall. It worked brilliantly for sleep for 4 months for me. That's much better than ambien and temazepam, those only worked the first night I used them and left me with awful side effects and hangover. Low dose doxepin kind of helps but it seems I have to keep increasing the dose and I'm not so keen on that. Buhner says ashwaganda but I tried a product called "cortisol Manager" which has ashwaganda and had a nasty reaction. Could have been one of the other ingredients I suppose. I'm scared to try ashwaganda again.

Many sing the praises of cbd cannabis which doesn't get you stoned. That didn't help for my sleep, I need to be knocked out. There are 2 varieties : sativa and indica. Indica is the one you need. It's more sedating than sativa. It might be hard to find unless you have access to a dispensary.

Edible is the way to go as the effects last many fold longer. The formula I used was to buy the herb, decarboxylize it, then make butter or coconut oil with it. Read up online for recipes. Cook in a crock pot for 12-24 hours. Then, I made delicious coconut flour Muffins using the infused butter. Start with 1/4 - 1/2 muffin to see how you react. It's not for everyone.

It worked great for me til it didn't anymore. That's the story of my life with sleep remedies. 😨

For me the problem appears to be cortisol. I got tested and found I have a cyclical up and down pattern over a 24 hour period. One of those ups happens to be during sleepy bye time. I just started phosphatidyl serine which seems like a good'n so far.

Good Luck Drez, I feel your pain.

I tried the CBD oil with almost nil THC - it wasn't for sleeping...it was for symptoms/treatment of Lyme.
I just put the small amount under my tongue - twice a day.

It gave me heartburn though...but if the CBD oil had worked for symptoms, I would have tolerated the heartburn.

I wouldn't want to smoke it

Yellow Cat,
So yes I'm 100% new to Marijuana. Can I get the forms yourare talking about in pill or chewable form? I have two little girls and don't wanna smoke anything if possible. And if you can, how much would be appropriate and where could I buy it online and have shipped to Indiana. Or should I not do that as I could get arrested??? Please advise on all fronts please.

I don't know if edible forms are easy available, will check tomorrow... There are always chances you will have some troubles ordering illegal stuff online but this could be minimised greatly. I will write you more datails in email if you are interested.

Hi Drez, yes, I've used it a lot. Buhner actually recommends it for sleep.

Actually I just made my own homemade Marijuana Tincture, because I didn't want to smoke or vape it anymore. It works very well. It is easy to make, so message me privately if you are interested.

Marijuana can really help you feel sleepy and I find gives me a great sleep. However if you are prone to anxiety it can exasperate that sometimes.

Drez-Since it's not legal in your state you might want to consider checking your cortisol levels. I have the same issue as Black Jack Davey and taking phosphatidyl serine powder has solved my insomnia.

Careful. Cannabis can cause extremely uncomfortable anxiety sometimes. I have lived my whole life in the cannabis center of the world. Living in northern California I have grown and used cannabis my whole life. Until I got Lyme disease. My body is too sensitive now, and even small amounts cause uncomfortable tachycardia.

Smoking is easier to control. Take a hit, wait a few minutes and see how you feel. But be very careful when you eat it because it can take up to an hour for the effects to come on. If you eat too much your going to be stuck being too stoned for a long time, like 8-10 hours.

Personally, I like Valarian, and/or hop tea for help sleeping.

Again. Be very careful eating cannabis. Once you ingest THC, you are committed to riding out the effects, which can last a very long time. Smoking or vaping is much better for beginners.

What brand do you buy of phisphatidayl serine? How much do you use per night and when do you take it? Thx, please advise.

Sorry for the delay. I take Designs for Health which I purchase from pureformulas.com The instructions my LLND gave me were to take between 1/4 and 1/2 of a teaspoon 30 minutes before bed time. I mix mine with a little bit of applesauce (It's sort of a powder that has little to no taste).

I also take 2 Valerian root capsules and 2 Somno Pro tablets. I purchase those on Amazon. Prior to taking the three supplements I was wide awake still 3, 4 am.

I tried some edibles while on a trip to Colorado with the hope I would find some calm and some sleep but whoa!
I was hyped up for days, my heart racing and I felt like my insides were shivering. It was bad.
I was so disappointed lol. Another weird is alcohol, BL it was fun now not only do I not get buzzed but it hurts like heck for days. I guess party days are over?

Yep. For me anyway, party days are over. My body is so sensitive, that just one or two beers gives me a terrible hangover. So I have been totally sober for over a year now. The only intoxicant in my system now is from the Borrelia, and babesia. And sometimes the effects of those toxins feel very much like a " bad trip".

It would be nice to live in a state where I could find something that works but I don't have that luxury. I take melatonin and calms forte and that sorta helps.
