We each need to find what works best for us. You have a well-thought-out plan.
People who usually take powder form can encapsulate the doses for travel.
After taking herbs for over 2 years now, I find I prefer life without powder and take a combination of tinctures and capsules (mostly tinctures).
For whatever it's worth....when Buhner writes about
preference for whole herb, he's referring to the herb itself vs. isolated constituents (Japanese Knotweed vs. resveratrol for example)
Certain parts of certain herbs often contain more of the active constituents and those parts are what are usually used for herbal preparations (powder, capsules or tinctures).
Japanese Knotweed preparations are made from the root. Sida Acuta preparations are usually made from the plant's leaves. Gou Teng (Chinese Cat's Claw) is made from the vine. And so it goes.
