Hi everyone I'm Kathryn, 20 yrs old, and battling with lyme in my college years. I'm new to this, but I figured it was about
time to reach out to people in a similar place to me, since not many people understand what having Lyme is like, unless actually living with it.
I believe I contracted Lyme last August..misdiagnosed until January and have been on doxycycline 2x a day 200mg ever since. Started with severe panic attacks, dizziness, and insomnia. No co-infections fortunately. My main symptoms I can't seem to shake at this moment are the brain fog and anxiety. I am spaced most of the day and it is hard for me to do anything I would normally do.
In a few days, I will be switching over to azythromyocin (Zithromax) once daily, and I heard a herx is possible which scares me because my herxes are very strong and include ocular migraines, vision problems, and severe panic attacks.
My specialist believes I will eventually be off of abx, but is not sure how long it will take for me to become healthy again. I am considering IV abx in the fall, if worse comes to worst. I have cut sugar, most carbs, drink plenty of lemon water, and take epsom salt baths regularly. I also take glutathione, magnesium, nystatin, probiotic, vitamin d, and vitamin c.
I guess my questions are...
(1) will my brain fog ever go away? I have not had one clear day since last August. I also am nervous that I will get a bad herx when I switch my abx to Zithromax.
(2) Should I expect the new abx to treat my brain fog? I know that Zithromax is used to treat a sinus infection, and I have a lot of pressure in my sinuses t/o my day... my symptoms are at a plateau right now, and I need some reassurance. Some days my symptoms are worse than others,
(3) is that herxing? Or worsening of the disease? I find that some of my old symptoms I haven't experienced are beginning to occur again. Maybe the new abx will help?
I am at a loss, and so sick of dealing with this disease, it is affecting my friendships and relationship. I need all the help and advice I can get.
