Well, I don't know if you are going to like what I say, but I have to say it.
Lyme sucks big time. It is a horrible disease and the longer you have it the harder it is to get rid of. And, you don't really get rid of it. You get your immune system strong enough to keep it controlled.
If this were my son, I would not let a doctor look at him and say "he doesn't have lyme" any more than I would let a doctor look at him and say, "he doesn't have cancer." How the heck can the doctor be sure??? I am angry that the doctor did not at least do one test before climbing on her high horse and declaring him lyme free.
Now if he does get lyme do you have a piece of paper with her guarantee on it? And absolutely no repercussions for the doctor.... But a couple years of misery for your son.
My lyme literate medical doctor and his family moved from TN to my area here in California. Both he and his wife got lyme in TN!
What to do now? I would demand a test. This is the ONLY thing that can set your mind at ease and give you some information.
I just did a zip code scan of LLMD Pedis in East TN, near Knoxville. I have 4 names for you, but they are in MD and VA. If you click on the blue envelope under my name I will gladly email you the names I have.
Another alternative is to go directly to one of these labs and ask for their kit for testing. Then you will need a doctor to sign off on the kit, go to a lab for the blood draw and send it in. This is usually a 3 week wait for the results and that is TIME that could be used to treat with antibiotics. So this is why I put it as a second choice.
Here are the labs that do dang good testing. Quest and LabCorp are not reliable, in my opinion. I used Igenex.
