Hey there All!

Just got Diagnosed at the end of April with Lyme and Bart. There was a massive flare up of joint pain in my shoulder immediately after beginning ABX. This pain stemmed from what I thought was a simple muscle knot that set in around October 2011 (severely hurt my back to breathe while running one time; it was my only lyme symptom for years). Based on that "knot," I assume I've had the disease for at least 5 and a half years.
Have a multitude of neurological symptoms including peripheral neuropathy and tendon pain in both hands and oneleg, Tingling and burning in the top an back of my head/neck/ears, Sensitivity to sound and light, incredibly stiff and cracky neck, cognitive disfunction, depression & anxiety (mostly following a concussion), etc...

Started treating on April 29th and I feel particularly sucky today in terms of joint pain, fatigue, and chest pain.

I've been on 300mg of Doxy a day; 100 in morn and 200 in evening both with food. My doc said she wanted to start me on a small dose so I didn't herx too bad. Also detoxing Liver and Lymph nodes with hepatik and lymphatik. I've been resting, staying hydrated, cutting back on gluten and dairy, Eating lots of raw veggies and fruits, etc.

I also must admit, and I'm not recommending anyone do this if they are not doing so legally, I have been medicating with cannabis vaporization and ingestion of butter (switching to coconut oil soon) with moderate success of symptom management, both for neuro symptoms and nausea from the doxy. I've managed to keep all my doxy down so far! Had some close calls though, especially first few days. I should note that I was a recreational user prior to the onset of neurological symptoms in November 2016 and found that changing the method of administration (i.e. smoking to vaping and ingesting) was profoundly beneficial for me.

Anyway, I'm just wondering if there's anything else I should be doing to rid myself of these awful infections? I know I've caught this late and have an uphill battle. Anything you wish you had known in the beginning of your treatment? Figured you guys know best!

The one big thing I wish I'd had known...was not to treat ONLY lyme for an extended period of time.
I wish I had pushed sooner for bartonella treatment.

Do what else you can to bump up the detox. Are you taking a binder? What about epsom baths...can you do them?
Dry brushing?

You're on probiotics?

Hi Christopher!

I'm sorry you're feeling sucky today - this really is not fun.

I think your protocol sounds great and it's good you started slowly. Just a few suggestions:

My guess is you're working up to 400mg Doxy per day? That's the optimal dose.

I'd also throw in a cyst and biofilm buster - SLOWLY.

And you need to protect your GI, where 70% of your immune system lives. Abx cause biome imbalance - so a very clean diet is essential but you should probably add an antifungal, some probiotics or probiotic foods.

And i'd also increase detox, particularly a gut binder (charcoal, bentonite clay, psyllium husk) with appropriate buffers and lots of water.

My neuro suggests all neuropathy is caused by inflammation so that is another area you might want to cover (I like Japanese knotweed, turmeric).

Also... this made me think of possible viral load - have you checked?
"...Tingling and burning in the top an back of my head/neck/ears, Sensitivity to sound and light... "
the Bart can cause this but for me, it's a viral thing so I'm always on antivirals.

And for the neck stiffness, pain you might have a lymph issue - try dry brushing, red root. Really helped me when I started tx.

Hope this is helpful - if not please keep asking questions!

Be sure to avoid any calcium foods within three hours of the doxy, then watch for the appearance for symptoms of any co-infections that show up as you are treating the Lyme.

Hello all again!

I have beeb incorporating probiotics into my diet as best as I can. I typically have kombucha tea or yogurt- if I can handle the extra inflammation from dairy that day. Dairy doesn't really give me too many problems, I do notice gluten effects me significantly more.

Epsom baths are also helpingsmile I am not taking a gut binder or buster for biofilms; haven't heard of these before though I feel like my doc is gonna work one in once we start treating the Bart and any other co's. I also think she plans on bumping me up to 400mgs very soon.

I have been reducing inflammation with turmeric when needed. Perhaps I should try that today with dinner.

also def need to watch for calcium foods with doxy, wasn't aware of this. Thanks to all very much!
