Hello everybody I hope you're all doing well!

I have very high suspicion that I might be having Lyme, since I lived in Maine for 4 months near the woods and started having symptoms of fatigue and flu-like symptoms in general.

Now(3 months later) I'm on my 3rd week of doxycycline(200 mg/day) and I've started developing knee and elbow pain and I'm afraid that the antibiotics are not doing the trick... I've looked into herbs(whole stevia leaves, samento/banderol, cats claw) and before I take any one of them, I want your opinions, are those supplements good for killing early stage/(might be late stage) Lyme?

I've been thinking of taking those herbs and supplement it with multi-vitamin, fish oil and sportsvitamins. And try to get a llmd at the same time near Norfolk, VA

Long post, I hope some will take the time to read it

Chris - The treatment can not only cause an increase in symptoms, but also the development of some new symptoms. The timing is right since you've been on the doxy for a couple of weeks.

But, you really should be increasing the dose to 200 mg twice daily to treat the lyme.

I am happy you are seeking out a LLMD.

If you don't get recommendations - you can email me and i will check my list and send you names.

Yes, you can also take herbals with the doxy.
But - you don't just want to 'kill' lyme - you want to support your body as well - so your immune system kicks in and starts to work for you.

Thanks for the quick response Girlie!

I've heard so many stories and read many articles about exercising doing Lyme treatment is good for you, is that true or will it make it worse?

Chris

You need to enable your e-mail option in your profile. People can then send you referrals.

Yes, excercise is good therapy. Read Dr B's guidelinesin note 1. He recommend 1 hr of light weight lifting every other day. Lots of reps. Stay away from cardio. Don't over do it.

Light exercise is good because it gets the blood flowing.

Yes exercise is good. Especially if the infections have caused muscle atrophy, wasting...etc.

I had so much muscle atrophy, along with lack of ROM from my frozen shoulder that the exercises were pretty much mandatory.

I have come a long way in the past two years.

Hi Chris, I am confused. you are looking for an LLMD, yet you have a prescription for doxy? so who is treating you currently, your regular md? what diagnostic did he give you when he wrote the doxy prescription?

Since you have a suspicion of lyme you should take the Igenex.com lyme test and come back with the results, after that we can give you better opinions on herbs or supplements as it depends on any co-infections you may or may not have.

have you had any lyme testing?

Dacarte3, I've just moved from Maine where I believe I got the disease

Caramba, 3 weeks ago I went to my primary doctor in Maine and told about my symptoms. He then wanted to do the Western Blot and Elisa test and prescribed me 1 month of antibiotics. On Sunday however is gonna be my last batch of antibiotics, which scares me a bit... that's why I'm looking for a llmd

Is it possible to get tested for Lyme when you have antibiotics in your blood?

You can get tested with the abx in you.

It's all about your immune system being able to mount a response.

I have read that some LLMD's prefer you to be off the abx when testing because abx are doing the ' job', your immune system doesn't need to.

Are you going to see a LLMD?
