While I feel bad physically on occasion it usually doesn't last long. Looking for some herbal recommendations for brain fog which is constant for me. Currently taking Maca which hasn't helped much. Detoxing seems to help the fog a bit as well but not as much as I would like.

Anybody have success with Pinella?

I haven't tried Pinella, but I know a lot of people have. I use Neuro-Antitox II CNS/PNS - I only seem to have brain fog when I'm herxing and my LLMD wanted me on it as a precaution. I'm sort of afraid to go off it ;) Also, Frankincense is good for brain fog. You can put a few drops on your temples or your forehead or just sniff it. It smells so good. Also, start telling yourself that you think clearly, your mind is functioning properly. Don't focus on the brain fog if you can help it. Meditation helps too.

Here is Buhner's advice - buhnerhealinglyme.com/symptoms/severe-derealization/

Pinella is recommended here (and what 10LymeB recommended is here) and this is a great site - www.tiredoflyme.com/lyme-disease-brain-fog-what-it-is-what-causes-it-and-how-to-help-reduce-it.html

Exact same thing happens to me. With mental exertion at work. Dissipates when I get home.

Bunher calls out herbs for specific symptoms that I believe others have posted. Herbs for the CNS.

dacarte3,

Yes that's exactly what happens to me. Do you got any recommendations?

Nascent Iodine cleared my brain fog but i am sure Fluconazole helped. If you do the former, supplement with selenium and cofactors or vegi powders for needed supportive minerals. Best to avoid other competing halides (chlorine, Fluoride, bromine) when doing this.
I did a drop a day until I reached 15mg and then capped it but continued with it.

I have to say Pinella & Burbur really seem to be helping my brain fog & pulsating. I just started using these so hoping it lasts.

yes that is one of the rare places where Buhner adds the herb "mino" to its arsenal:

"Combination of antibiotics (abx) of minocycline, zithromax, plaquinal for 3-4 months....
As the situation resolved antibiotics were discontinued as were the rest of the pharmaceuticals and teasel flower tincture was used which seemed to be the final piece needed.
"

seriously, i dont think there are many options but ceftriaxone, mino , bicillin shots or fluconazole (it has almost 100% brain penetration and it is deadly to borrelia, as well as to your liver sad ) . Sorry !

That, and change of diet, give up gluten, dairy and sugar.

Even buhner used the herbs AFTER THE ABX...

Tick41 -

One of the issues with starchy foods is that many people are eating simple carbs, which turn into sugar almost immediately and can cause yeast/fungal overgrowth, particularly with taking antibiotics that kill all the good bacteria that keep yeast/fungus in balance.

For some people, it's essential to take antifungals with the antibiotics. Here's a lot more info about it and also lists symptoms that you can review to help you determine if it's an issue for you:
Y/FO post in the "New to Lyme?" thread:
www.healingwell.com/community/default.aspx?f=30&m=1606610&g=3644275#m3644275

Y/f can create neurotoxins and other problems that can be the cause of the "brain fog". Other GI imbalances can cause brain fog. Sometimes, taking a GI binder can be very helpful in clearing out anything in the GI before it can cause problems - since has finally proved the gut-brain connection with the blood vessels that are linked between the two and allow toxins to travel from the GI and into the brain. Thus, binders are quite helpful.

In addition to GI binders, Nutramedix Pinella and Burbur tinctures are a MUST for me - they really do help detox the brain.

Also, hormone imbalances can cause brainfog, particularly thyroid disorders so that is something to be sure to check out. There is a lot of good info on this forum regarding thyroid testing.
