Computational simulations suggest multiple sclerosis is a single disease
Findings support hypothesis that the same mechanisms underlie widely varying symptoms/www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2017/10/171026142340.htm

Even after applying genetic and environmental differences, still, the underlying cause of MS (progressive or non progressive) seems to be one, and not several.
"Therefore, our results support the hypothesis of a common pathogenesis for the different MS subtypes, even in the presence of genetic and environmental heterogeneity.
Hence, MS can be considered as a single disease in which specific dynamics can provoke a variety of clinical outcomes in different patient groups. These results have important implications for the design of therapeutic interventions for MS at different stages of the disease."
Please notice they say "even in the presence of genetic and environmental factors".
This is great news, IMHO, he "complex" disease is not so complex, it just has complex manifestations, but with a single cause... I know some people (me included) were skeptical saying "this complex disease has many causes and we will never be able to find one single silver bullet". This study proves them wrong...
This is very interesting for me, as i was sure lyme can be one of the many causes of MS. Now this turns all my ideas upside down. Maybe the reality is much more simple than we can imagine. MS is just untreated neuro lyme. Simple... Are we trying to be more polite,
open minded and accepting of the complexity of this disease than we are supposed to be? Maybe...
The fact that most MS people are always lyme negative, we know, does not rule out lyme, because the tests are so poor...
