Hi,

I'm looking for a good LLDR in NYC. My old Lyme matches up the symptoms but negative in bloodwork and I can't function like that anymore. This old thread mentioned about a supposedly am excellent doctor, Dr R in Manhattan:

Is he still around? Please PM me his contacts.

Otherwise, please give me another good LLDR.
Thanks.

Hi Pianist - welcome!

I have a Dr. BR listed in NY, NY.

I do know of a couple members who have seen him and have said he is a good LLMD.

If you want the contact information, send me an email.

Girlie,
Please give it to me. Can you email it to me? Is it that mysterious Dr R from 2012 thread or another one?

Also, if anyone can give me Dr R - I'd appreciate it. Will probably visit both.

Thank you, Girlie. But he charges $1,100 per visit and no insurances accepted! I can't believe it!

Does anybody have any affordable LLDRs in NYC area?

What about Dr C in Mt Kisco? I've read he's famous but is he good? I'm not sure I will take very long antibiotics courses but I need a LLDR to diagnose me properly. I will try to take an alternative approach.

PLEASE HELP ASAP! I need to know if I should get additional tests before the end of this year because I will have horrible insurance next year and I need to get everything done now.

My results of Igenex Western Blot IgG and IgM are back: Negative.

IgM: band 41 positive
IgG: band 41 positive

Other tests by Lenco Diagnostic Lab (they are a regular lab, they don't specialize in Lyme):

Epstein-Barr virus: 8 (reference <0.8)
EBV ECA IGM ABS: <0.2 (reference <0.8)
EBV Nuclear IGG ABS: >8.0 (reference <0.8)
Lyme Disease AB: 0.05 (reference <0.90)
Mycoplasma IGM ABS: 0.19 (reference <0.90)

Toxoplasma Toxo IgG: 3.6 (reference 0.0 - 7.5)

Toxoplasma IgM /W RFLX CONFIRMATION
Toxo IgM: 0.2 (reference 0.0 - 8.0)

Lyme IgM ABS: 0.19 (=/< 0.90 - No detectable B Brurgorferi IgM Antobodies, Result does not exclude infection. An additional sample should be tested within 4-6 weeks if early infection is suspected).

So, The Igenex is negative but Epstein-Barr virus is there by a regular lab. Should I go to a very expensive local doctor (who charges $660 for a visit but insurance will pay probably $200 this year) to have him do other bloodwork? Or can you tell me what other bloodwork to run? I have no idea.

Please help.

i'm sorry pianist but there are almost no LLMD's that take insurance let alone are cheap. any LLMD in NYC or the surrounding areas are going to charge you similar prices.

you may be able to find a GP who will follow some of the ILADS guidelines but that's about it.

in terms of testing your best chance to getting a positive (if you have any of the pathogens) is doing a PCR and FISH test for Lyme, Babesia, Bartonella and any others Igenex would offer if interested. these identify actual DNA of the pathogen so there's no chance of a false positive. on the flip side testing for this stuff is considered inconsistent due to what's in your actual blood when they draw it so either way there's no final determination if you end up getting negatives back.

So then why was I told by many to be tested for Igenex Western Blot instead of PCR and FISH test for Lyme, Babesia, Bartonella ?

What does a negative Igenex Western Blot mean? Does it mean I don't have Lyme? Has anybody had a negative Igenex WB but still has Lyme?

I must correct my self: On my Igenex test for bands 41 it says "I" so I think it means intermediate?
IgM: band 41 Intermediate
IgG: band 41 Intermediate
