My Bart came back last month, so i've been on rifampin but I think its given me sinus congestion so I went off it. I've also been taking burner herbs but... I thought the protocol was: Sida acuta, Isatis, Houttuynia, Alchornea cordifolia, Japanese knotweed, EGCG, hawthorn, cordyceps, L-arginine, milk thistle.

However, I found this "Update July 11, 2017": Sida acuta tincture, Hawthorn tincture, Japanese knotweed, EGCG,
Houttuynia, L-arginine, Milk Thistle seed.

I realized that I don't have Houttynia....Anyone use that with success. So sick of ordering stuff....I still have a whole bottle of Alchornea and Isatis...a bottle of cordyceps...should I just take it anyway?

Where did you find the 'update'?

I have his Bartonella book and the basic protocol is;

JK, EGCG, L-arginine, Cordyceps, Sida acuta, Red Root, Milk Thistle seed, Hawthorn, Rhodiola/ashwaghanda,
Istatis/houttuynia/alchornea, Pomegranate juice, Vit. E.

I don't see any reason not to take the Alchornea, Istatis and cordyceps.

The website isnt the latest - it's a more condensed version .

In fact it says on that site to refer to his book to get full protocol.

This is written just before the Bart protocol:

" This is the basic protocol, please refer to Stephen’s book Healing Lyme Disease Coinfections: Complementary and Holistic Treatments for Bartonella and Mycoplasma for the most up-to-date expanded bartonella protocol.:"

I saw you didn't list red root, that helps to push things through he lymph system.

Yes the houttuynia is important also.

as Girlie said this is the full Bartonella protocol fro his co infection book on Bart.

I take the full protocol I believe it is working, I did have about 8 days with no symptoms last month(wish it had lasted) but I still a struggling with some symptoms. It takes time.

If you can find Houttuynia tincture made from fresh leaves, Buhner says it is more effective.

I think I did find one - was it Sage Woman Herbs? (Can't remember their new name)

Edit: Sage Consulting and Apothecary.

Edit#2 - It's Woodland Essence - as MisterMike stated

Dr. MR in DC says Houttyunia and Sida has cured about 70% of his Bart infected patients.

If you have Alchornea, Isatis and Cordyceps lying around I'd take them also.

Alchornea is excellent for any pathogen is an anti-
bacterial
fungal
microbial
viral
protozoan
malarial
oxidant
inflammatory

Cordyceps is an anti-bacterial, antioxidant and immune booster

Isatis is an antibacterial, antiviral and anti-inflammatory

Buhner says that the herbals he suggest are not the only ones that will work for these infections. Many other herbals also work. He offers his suggestions based on how things work in our bodies.

He also adds in supportive herbals which I believe are key to having all the protocol work together to combat the particular infection.

I noticed better results when I take the full protocol versus one or two herbals in it. Of course this does take time to build up and add in the other herbals.

I would highly recommend to get his books. They are not that expensive and explain so much about how the infections attack our bodies and how the herbals he suggest work to fix it.

Take care, Jo

Unfortunately, that site is not by Buhner himself (although many people think it is). He does answer some questions there. Somebody else created it, and it has been known on this board for not being current and causing a lot of confusion. It is very unfortunate. I think the site could have a lot more potential if it were more current and with more apparent disclaimers (just my opinion).

The books are his latest, but even with books, those can become outdated as well as we learn more. His latest books are the best resource for his most current protocols.

Buhner's actual website (from what I can tell is) this:
www.gaianstudies.org/index.html
It does not list protocols but has some corrections to the books.
Kid#1: Extremely sick for several years, very difficult to treat, but doing great now!
Kid#2: Very sick now despite being treated for years, still very bad
Kid#3: Generally good but relapsing off/on.
Me: Adv Labs positive 2016 (suspected I passed to my kids)-not as sick as others, mostly battling fatigue and yeast issues (heart/kidney issues resolved)
Treating with herbals now.

I agree - I have all his books, and have read them cover to cover and has followed his regimes for 2 years and that is why I was questioning the protocol I came across that said "Updated July 2017" because it didn't list everything. And then I realized that I had never used Houttonyia and managed to clear the Bart for over a year....

I know he doesn't recommend Red Root anymore except if you take it with enzymes, but I took it last time Bartonella flared, so I am going to add those in cuz, of course, I have a bottle of it laying around somewhere! Ha.

His name is still on the website and he has been answering questions - He is aware of the info on that site - if he didn't want it to be known as his site Im sure he'd have it shut down.

Maybe he is trying to help those who can't afford to buy the books or he thinks it's good advertising for his books.

My LLMD prescribed houttinya for bart, and I've been slowly working up to a full dose 2x a day. I've had some bad herx's/flares - not sure if it's from that or something else as started new things, but I thought I Buhner mentioned hout in his new book. I didn't read it that long ago but can't remember...

And as goshawk mentioned, I also remember Buhner stating there are other herbals that work.

Houttinya does seem to be widely recommended for bart (from my various readings), so I would say it's worth a try. I'm also taking cats claw, sida acuta and JK.
pos for MTHTR single mutation; Positive Igenix IgG Jan 2017
