My latest fun symptom is random bald spots in my beard. Does anyone else have this? I would imagine it's from lyme triggering autoimmune disease.

I guess it's called alopecia areata. It's a little nerve racking thinking that there is a visual sign of an autoimmune disease. What else is my body attacking that I can't see?

Here's an interesting article about the relationship between alopecia and Lyme disease:

It's bad enough we have pain and other symptoms we can 'feel' but to 'see' signs of the disease is disconcerting.

I hate seeing my fingernail ridges, my scrawny left hand (lack of collagen/muscle)...etc. and now my hair has lost it's natural curl and has a weird 'slick' feel to it.

So, this just recently started, fields? Did you change treatment ?

Yes, that's true. Although, I like being able to see something wrong and being able to point to it, and justify to myself that it's not all in my head.

I think I've had a lot of muscle loss too. I know what you mean.

I did start taking penicillin intramuscular shots which have given me pretty hard herxes for several weeks. Maybe that could be related to the hair loss. This is a very odd disease.

I also started taking sida acuta, which has seemed to curb the hand tremors. They were getting really bad, but after a couple days of sida acuta the severity has lessened which is nice. It makes me wonder how Buhner figures out which herbs actually work for which symptoms. I wonder what the mechanism is.

How long have you had Lyme now Girlie?

gfields- In what form of sida acuta, and how much per day do you take?

I had to take Rx propranerolo for tremors just to be able to do my job. Some days I still have slight hand tremors in the AM and always wondered what other options there were.

I developed a skin condition about 15 years ago - vitaligo, lighter blotchy areas that lose pigment. Its autoimmune they say, even though there's no antibodies to test for.

Astro - do you still take the Propranalol?

My LLND prescribed it for me to take because of the shivers I get but I didn't want to take it.
It can also lower blood pressure - I think it's a beta blocker

I was taking 10 drops in the morning and 5 in the afternoon. Buhner says you can take up to 40 drops 3 times a day I think. That seemed like a lot. I haven't experimented with it too extensively so I'm not sure what the right balance is yet.

Girlie - Yes, even though I tried being off it for a few days. I prob could get by with a lower dose now, some days none needed, but its best to take daily..

My tremors were possibly from all these things combined: Lyme, candida, anxiety, adrenals, not being able to detox well on the "killer" R'x's(gene issue), muscle tension and weakness, and possibly from hashimoto anxiety (common).

As each above improved the tremors got better, but not gone everyday. Some days I need really fine hand control at work, and I dont always know when I'll need that ahead of time. There were some shaky days someone covered for me- I just said my thyroid was off, I NEVER mention lyme at work.

I had med-high BP when all my symptoms were going wide open too, so this helped that also. Plus it lowered my AM cortisol in addition to the holy basil. I'm kinda chicken to just go off it, but alternatives would be nice.

So, do you think the tremors are leftover damage from the infections? I know you're not treating anymore...so you don't think it's active infection, right?

No, I dont think its from any active infection.

I still have various areas of muscle or myofacial tension - more in arms/hands/wrists following the gym. So I think its that and AM hashimoto anziety. Its better in the PM. Anziety is nothing like before, but still noticable. Plus I had carpel tunnel when infection was roaring- physical evidence that nerves were impared somehow. CT took forever to get better and I had real bad tremors with that. Did lots of nerve glides. And my mysterious elevated B6 of the past could have caused long term nerve damage too.

There are lots of things that can add to hand tremors.

I feel great today, but lower arms/hands are tired/achy/ from being at the gym yesterday.

gfields- oops, kinda hijacked your thread.
