Good grief.

Friday we have our first appointment with Dr. J's clinic. Today our DS has what appears to be Candida spots all over his chest and an itchy scalp. Has anyone ever done an anti-fungal bath? If so, can you share your recipe?

Many thanks!

What a nice idea... try smearing the following one at a time and let it sit:

- apple cider vineger (mother's version)
- coconut oil - I wouldn't add it to a bath because you don't want the oil down the drain.
- you can buy some OTC Head-and-Shoulders (fungal version), Monistat and try smearing that on and leave it overnight

For a bath I would try adding some borax, crank the heat up very carefully if you can.

Hope he gets some relief -

FWIW - we've been using coconut oil soap for many years now. Absolutely love love love it. It inadvertently (and accidentally) resolved some skin issues with a few of my kids (one of the issues was likely yeast related). We use it for everything - bath/shower/hand soap/etc. Even shampoo when kids were younger.
We have never (knock on wood) had issues with it going down the drain. However, the coconut oil soap doesn't solidify like just plain coconut oil.

OP - I really recommend looking into coconut oil soap for daily use. I highly recommend it.

RE: ACV
Just be careful with that one. It can help people with yeast, but it also can be problematic too. That one is iffy, so be careful on that one. For me, ACV aggravated my yeast issue. I was on it for a few weeks, and it caused a flare for sure. As soon as I stopped, flare went away. So, just be careful with that one. It's iffy in my book.

I remember listening to a talk about skin issues being a mirror of what's going on inside. Basically, yeast externally can mean a yeast imbalance internally. So, if it were me, I'd be treating both internally and externally (for the symptoms) if at all possible.

Just my 2.2 cents. smile

Good luck. Yeast can be such a pain!
Kid#1: Extremely sick for several years, very difficult to treat, but doing great now!
Kid#2: Very sick now despite being treated for years, still very bad
Kid#3: Generally good but relapsing off/on.
Me: Adv Labs positive 2016 (suspected I passed to my kids)-not as sick as others, mostly battling fatigue and yeast issues (heart/kidney issues resolved)
Treating with herbals now.

Pardon my ignorance, but what are Candida spots?

I had tinea versicolor all over my back - the lyme made it difficult to treat. I tried everything. You name it. The only thing that worked was Sporonox - which can be very expensive and requires a presciption. I had it really bad too. But just cause the usual things didn't work for me, doesn't mean they won't work for you. You have to treat from the inside out. Diet, etc. Candida itself is hard to treat and takes lots of patience. Even with Sporonox, I still have to stay on a Candida diet.
*42 yo - Treatment started Nov. 2016 - Bitten by mosquito in Paris 2013
* SIBO (improved with diet)
* Candida (improved with diet and Nystatin)
* Lyme - Babesia - Bartonella
* Hashimoto's (improved with NatureThroid)
* EBV
* HHV6
* Tinea Versicolor (improved with Sporanox)
* IBS (improved with diet and BPC 157)
* Mostly herbal treatment, Bryon White

If you are into Essential Oils, here are a few Candida recipes:

Skin relief: create a paste with 1/2 cup aluminum-free baking soda and a few tablespoons of fractionated coconut oil. Then add the following essential oils
4 drops lavender
3 drops malaleuca
3 drops rosemary
Use paste in shower as cleanser and exfoliator. Apply all over body scrub for a few minutes. REpeat at least twice a week to kill candida living on the skin.

Topical blend:
9 drops cassia
8 drops clove
6 drops cinnamon
4 drops oregano
blend into 10 ml roller bottle. fill remainder with carrier oil. Use topically as needed.

How did appt go? DS goes there.

J clinic recommended DS use dandruff shampoo on skin and that worked for Tinea versi whatever it's called. Then he had some weird bigger round spots with flaky skin around the edges - dime to quarter size. He got in a hot tub (eek) at a friend's and that cleared it up - he said it smelled heavily of chlorine.

I've also read about borax and hydrogen peroxide baths for mites - not sure if it's anti fungal.

I've had mixed results using essential oils.

Hi, Yancync- we just finished up there at 3 today. What an incredible group of people there. All of them were very kind, knowledgeable and compassionate.

They did mention the dandruff shampoo for the skin and face. He really broke out on his ear and chest the other day. We will try this, too, when we get home.

10LymeB- never heard of sporanox - thanks for the info

PDX- thank you for the essential oils option- always nice to have a natural treatment option.

Walking By Faith- they look like red circles the size of dimes. But the NP said we would really need to get a skin scraping to know it is fungal/candida for sure .

Thanks all.

Warmly-

Girlie - I really appreciated their attention to detail, knowledge on the subject matter and team-think approach in developing a treatment plan.

My son appreciated that when we asked where was a good place to go for his birthday dinner, the front desk receptionist not only recommended a place, she printed out the menu and reviews. That was super sweet!

Saw you are strongly considering going there. Fingers crossed you can get all your labs and your meds covered in Canada.
