I reacted poorly to Cipro the last time I took it. My doctor said he could switch me to Levofloxacin. I don't know if I'm comfortable with that because they are in the same "family". Can anyone shed light on this situation? Anyone have experience with Levofloxacin? How does it compare to Cipro? I appreciate your help. Thanks for reading
Why are you taking Cipro? Do you have bart?
Totally agree with the others that you will likely have a similar reaction to Levofloxacin.
If you don't know if you have bart -
Your next step is to become familiar with "floxing" symptoms, AND familiar with the sx from herxing to bartonella are - and try to determine which category you fall under. It won't be easy. And then you might be better off trying an herbal tincture or herbs for treating bart to provoke a herxing response, which could confirm a bart infection and could be the reason you're reacting to Cipro.
If you're trying to take Cipro for bart -
Then you have to rule out any floxxing risk. Or, you might be better off trying an herbal tincture or herbs for treating bart, which might be a safer way to treat bart.
If you're taking Cipro for something else -
You might want to ask for a different drug than a fluoroquinalone so that you can avoid the herxing or the floxxing and address whatever infection you have going on. But then you might come back to provoking with herbs to determine if you might have a bart infection that needs to be treated.
