In February 2014, the FDA issued an import alert that allowed U.S. officials to detain imported bulk dietary ingredients and dietary supplements that are, or contain, kratom without physical examination, according to a previous press release.

They have recently reaffirmed their intent. However they are currently soliciting public input. Public comments can be called in to (888) 463-6332. Hit #3, then #4, and leave your story on how your pain was relieved by Kratom or about other positive results that were attained.

This seems oddly democratic for the FDA. I like kratom. I tried it last week and it helped. Only worked for 4 hours and then my pain came back like gangbusters. I'd definitely take it again if I need it in a pinch.

They were forced to do this.

The FDA has been trying to shut Kratom down for a long time.

The DEA tried to emergency "schedule" Kratom in Schedule 1 with Heroin and cocaine, and methamphetamine last year.

Public oucry with help from congress reps stopped the ban in its tracks and forced this open public discussion.
