I’m new to posting. I’ve been reading the forums for months. You guys are always so helpful!

I have a question about neck issues and pain. I’m seeing a chiropractor and a TMJ dentist. I was getting help from both until yesterday. The dentist wants me to do neck exercises to put C2 back in alignment. Chiropractor says that I have forward neck posture and can’t fix C2 while my posture is still off. Right now, my biggest problem is that I feel bad after the exercises. My neck hurts, I get a little headache, feel off kilter. I just don’t know if some of this pain could be Lyme related too?!?! I’m feeling pretty inflamed and hormonal. Ugh.

Any help, ideas or advice would be appreciated!

Welcome to our community, momem3

I think if the chiro is saying not to do the neck exercises PLUS they hurt, and you get a headache - I would listen to him.

Yes, the pain could definitely be related to Lyme.

I do see a physiotherapist. BUT, the first 4 (or was it 5?) that I saw - didn't help..in fact one made me feel worse (he was the one of the ones who gave me neck exercises to do)

The physio I see now leaves my neck alone...and has me doing other exercises...for shoulders and back.
But, none of them make me hurt after.

The chiropractor I see doesn't do any 'crunching' or 'cracking'. I see an Upper Cervical chiropractor who aligns the C1 (Atlas) - but it's gentle.

Do you have a LLMD? Are you currently in treatment for Lyme?

I had horrible neck pain when I first had lyme. My neck hurt and when I turned from side to side it sounded like I had gravel in my neck. It creaked and crackled like a very old person.

I had so many worse symptoms that I did not even notice when the neck pain finally went away. My headaches were much worse and so were my knee and joint pain.

My questions are much like Girlie's. Are you in treatment right now? What are you taking?

I am so glad you joined us. I notice that you have posted in the Fibro forum. MANY of us thought we had fibro.

Did you have a tick bite? Have you had a lyme disease test?

And most of all welcome. You will find many wonderfully compassionate and caring people here. I hope you don't have lyme.

I grew up in the country. I have had several tick bites so can’t point to one as the magic bullet. I think I have had Lyme for a long time. My family moved to Italy for almost 2 years and the stress of that plus the accidents were the perfect storm for me. We just returned to the US in August.

I’m currently going through a friend who does homeopathic treatments. We are currently working on detox and drainage as my body is extremely toxic and my drainage pathways are blocked. Ugh! She has a plan in place for when my body can handle treatment. She has found toxins throughout my body, including my brain. I have Lyme, babesia and bartonella showing on my scans. I did see a LLMD and she wasn’t helpful. She offered to do the testing. That was about it. She said to eliminate dairy (my friend had already told me that) and to do an EBV protocol that I had done years ago. It was so frustrating!

Thank you so much for your input! I think I have had this for forever. I feel so unprepared for this foe.

Maybe the LLMD wanted to do a test first - before treatment was discussed?

Maybe Girlie. It felt more like a shove out the door. I know she is incredibly busy. Her NP has just left and she was doing double load. I just felt a bit dismissed and that I just need to figure it out on my own. She offered the testing but told me to just consider it and come back if I want it. I’m very lucky to have a friend who does homeopathic treatments. I have made some progress. It’s just very slow!

I did some essential oils in Italy to jumpstart treatment. I think what I really did was increase my toxins load. I didn’t know then how toxic I was. I even have EBV toxins in my brain from the protocol I did years ago. Working on detox is long, hard and difficult to see the progress.

It's good that you are detoxing.

There is a lot of support here - whether you choose the antibiotic route..or herbal..or something else.

One of the more popular herbal protocols on this forum is S. Buhner's.

Thank you so much Girlie! I think my treatments will be mostly homeopathic/energetics. If that doesn’t work, we will try abx. I think I am starting right after Christmas. I’m actually nervous since I have heard all the horror stories!

It could be Lyme related. Whatever you're having done that HURTS, I would stop. You don't know what it could really be doing and neither does the practitioner. Practitioners, even Lyme literate ones, think they know more than they do. I often have opposite than expected reactions and results from things and when I tell the doctors, they say "it shouldn't" do that/cause that. I've learned to trust my body and my instincts over anything I'm told or read about. I don't understand why my body's so odd and different from the majority, but it is. Maybe one day I'll figure out at least a few things. I hope so anyway.

Good luck with your homeopathy!

Thank you so much WalkingbyFaith! You and Girlie both said what my chiropractor and homeopathic friend said. I think I just needed to hear it from Lyme people. And yes! I always have the opposite effect from what they expect. It’s sort of how I ended up on the homeopathics. It seems to line up more with what my body needs right now.

My homeopathic friend told me last night that some of the pain and inflammation could be toxins and liver backup during this time of the month. Yippee! I’m still going to stop doing these exercises. I was making good progress until that.

Thanks again!

You are so blessed to have a friend that knows so much. Especially a friend that knows about detoxing. This will give you a lot of relief.

On this forum there are many different treatment being done. No one has found a perfect way to treat lyme yet. We are hopeful that someday an easy treatment will be found.

So glad you joined us.

PeteZa, yes. I’m blessed. I still feel like garbage right now but better than I was feeling, so I will take it!

I’m hopeful that this is the right path for me. I know that Lyme doesn’t always fight fair so know there could be many bumps in the road! Trying to keep an open mind. I’ve been amazed at how much emotions play a part in this healing. It has helped me get over a few hurdles already.

Thank you for the greeting!

Just remember you can always change the road you are on. No one says you have to stick with your first option.

Many here have tried different treatments. We just search until we find what works for us. And I know you will find your way too.

Also, my current physiotherapist told me when I do the exercises she gives me, it's okay to have some muscle pain...but it should be better by the next day.
And, it shouldn't be a bad pain...just like an overworked, tired muscle pain.

Girlie, I find this to be an all day, something is wrong pain. It doesn't even feel muscular. I don't even know what it feels like. I know I'm incredibly inflamed right now. I think that is exacerbating all of this. I just don't want to do anything that causes pain since I had started to have a few decent days here and there. Ugh!

I wouldn't do them and I wouldn't go back to the dentist .
