I was looking into HPU/KPU again after reading Better Health Guy's updated article on this topic here: www.betterhealthguy.com/images/stories/PDF/kpu_townsend_2017.pdf
Sounds simple enough. It's basically just supplementing zinc, Vit B6/P5P, biotin, magnesium, and omega-6 oils. I'm interested because I have such difficulty tolerating anything and have a hard time detoxing. Klinghardt makes it sound like if you have HPU and supplement these things, then your detox pathways will open up and you will heal better/faster.
I did the questionaire today. My score indicicated I may or may not have HPU. Regardless, seems simple enought to try without testing.
Want to know is anyone supplementing with B6 (including P5P form) and zinc? Did it help anything? Did it hurt anything?
I don't know what genetic methylation isssues I have, since I haven't been tested. Don't know if there are genotypes that would have trouble with these supplements. Klinghardt doesn't mention any. He does warn it can cause heavy metals to release, though.
FYI. There is a urine test that you can do to test for this.
I have gone down this pathway in the past. I have tested my kids at various times, and they were either up or down. Sometimes, it appeared as an issue, whereas other times, it did not.
I supplemented with BioPure Core for awhile. I can't say that it helped or hindered one way or the other. It did not jump out to me as helping, so we did not continue with it.
Sometimes, when I'd take BioPure Core, I'd have a boost of energy (I have fatigue problems). Other times, not.
I do think we all struggle with zinc deficiency at times though. I'm not confident HPU/KPU was/is our issue though.
Although our experience wasn't a rainbow (honestly, very few things are for our family - majority of things do not help us), I do think it's a very logical thing to try.
Kid#1: Extremely sick for several years, very difficult to treat, but doing great now!
Kid#2: Still sick now despite being treated for years but doing better (not well yet).
Kid#3: Generally good but relapsing off/on.
Me: Adv Labs positive 2016 (suspected I passed to my kids)-not as sick as others, mostly battling fatigue and yeast issues (heart/kidney issues resolved)
Treating with herbals now.
