A lot's happened to me since Thanksgiving. Day before Thanksgiving I felt really sick with headache, nausea, and vomiting and started a period - 1st one in 5 months. Doc had told me to get castor oil and rub on my right side. I started the castor oil that day, since I felt so bad. Did it morning and night that day and nightly for 3 more nights. The latter part of Thanksgiving day, I felt better than I had in a while and Black Friday I felt really good. The days following, I had some sick days again. I stopped the castor oil after the 4th night since I was feeling dehydrated and headachy. Also was having a lot of bowel movements. One of the days I was feeling very sick, I looked pale and slightly yellow.

The Wednesday after Thanksgiving, I had some labs done. For the first time, my AST and ALT were elevated out of range. Creatinine was low. The doctor said she didn't think the castor oil would have caused the elevated enzymes. I'm still feeling bad more than good, in spite of the fact my normal symptoms have dissipated. Today, I felt better when I first got up but after moving around and taking glutathione and then EGCG and quercetin, I started feeling toxic. Could feel burning in my scalp. Have had slight queasiness today. Food usually makes me feel better but not today. Slightly headachy and lots of belching today. (Belching tends to accompany my migraines for reasons I don't understand.).

Anyway, has anyone felt worse using castor oil or had elevated liver enzymes from castor oil packs?

I'm using Buhner's herbal protocols to treat Lyme, bartonella, babesia, and now chlamydia pneumonia. No abx here.

P.S. - Docs don't really care about low creatinine, only elevated. However, when I googled it, I found that it can indicate liver problems. Anyone else have low creatinine? Know anything about it?

Do not add in anything new. You need to get whatever ran amuck to calm down.

Now is when you be super gentle on yourself. Whatever herb dosage you were on way before Thanksgiving, you should go back to that. If that means deleting some herbs that you had added, so be it.

Something is all riled up and needs to rest and it could be the starting of your menses that triggered the hormones to go a little wacky.

Hormones can mess you up mentally and physically.

For food, be super nice to your innards. Some gentle soup - nope, no creamy stuff. Lots of broth. Gentle, caring for you is what you need. Rest as much as you can.

Your symptoms may not be linked to the higher liver enzymes. So try not to worry.

My liver enzymes were higher than range for a couple of months and I never felt anything.

What about stopping the herbal treatments for a few days...see how you feel?

WalkingbyFaith, your cycle can totally mess up your liver! I have been noticing for a few months that I get 100x worse for about a week before and the first few days of my cycle. After digging deeper, I have put some pieces together. First, we have excess estrogen during this time. What organ helps rid us of that? The liver! Plus, other things fluctuate. You likely get a surge in yeast at this time. When our liver is trying to handle everything else we throw at it, our cycles just overtax it. My symptoms can go from manageable to overwhelming during this time every month! This month has been the worst. I love Christmas but the stress of it is causing lots of issues. I’m sure others might know or understand the science behind it better...and I am in a severe brain fog right now... but this is what I have deduced. Unfortunately, everything started going downhill in this department in April and just keeps getting worse!

Peteza,

I wish I could rest. I've been having trouble sleeping for a while now. I typically feel worst in the morning and feel better in late afternoon/evening. Then I don't feel sleepy when it's time to go to bed and stay up way too late. I'm living with relatives and have to sleep on an air mattress in the living room. They don't get out the living room to 11:00 pm and they get up early around 6 am. I've never been a good sleeper, but this past month or so has been bad.

I'm sure my adrenals are out of whack. It's happened before, especially when I have a lot of toxins. I'm wondering if babesia or Lyme may be coming out more since the bartonella symptoms have died down, but it hasn't really been particular symptoms - mainly headaches, trouble sleeping, and feeling bad. The last real symptoms that flared were burning and sensitivity in my scalp and tissues and some hair loss, dry skin, cracked hands, sensitivity to temperature extremes, some sudden irritability.

Hey WalkingbyFaith, my liver enzymes are always too high, even before herbs. So my symptoms aren't caused by that.

I hope that helps to know.

Also, it might help you to post how much too high there are, then we might be able to reassure you more smile

I could not do that. I am a sleeper. With lyme I got so tired and I napped. Anytime and anywhere. And then I would sleep all through the night. We head for bed at 9pm and generally I love to read. 10 is lights out. For hubby he is up any time after 4:30am. For me, I'm up at 7am. He gets up and has a breakfast and then has another breakfast when I get up. He doesn't gain a pound. We just require different amounts of sleep and always have.

I still think this is all hormonal that you are going through. Make sure you put it in your journal so you can track it next month.

Are you using binders? The liver dumps the toxins into the small intestine where they are theoretically swept out into the colon to be eliminated. When there are too many toxins, the liver dumps too many and they get reabsorbed by the small intestine and recirculated and you can't get a break!

I would up your binders, take charcoal/mcp at least 2x a day. If this is the case, you will feel better within a day or so. All it means is that you are killing more stuff than you can detox. Cutting back would help a bit.

The fact that the liposomal glutathione caused problems leads me to believe this is the case. drink some dandelion tea....

I just checked the moon phases and we are super close to a New Moon. Chart this in your journal. Some people are sensitive to moon phases. Hubby and I can feel a Full Moon. Some people can feel the effects of a New Moon.

Track it for a few months and see if it coincides.
