Anyone else feel like this? Is it just a case of sticking with them, I have significantly decreased my dose after feeling dizzy but now I have this shoulder and subtle arm pain, I was symptom free.

Granted they don’t stop me from doing anything or require painkillers but could it be the herbs?

Szabo - I can't speak to herbs I am being treated with pulsed ABX. I am only into my 2nd cycle (2 weeks on, 1 week off . But I find amazing is that my joint pain (neck, elbow, knee) emerges when I am on my off week.

Perhaps, it is the same with you. When you hit hard and then pull back a bit the bugs decide to play (symptoms).

I am sure a member, treating with herbals, will be along soon.

Happy Saturday!

Warmly -

Herbs need to be administered gently. Your body has to get used to them. You should be doing small increases and not a lot of new herbs at the same time.

So assuming you are doing that, yes you can get flares with herbs.

I always thought of it like the herbs found the lyme bugs hiding in certain spots and the herbs were chasing them out of hiding to kill them.

As long as you can function, it could be a flare. Lyme loves to come and go. Remember detoxing and eating SUPER healthy, staying stress free and getting good sleep. They are just as important medicine as the herbs.

Here is a great article on flares and herxes: www.tiredoflyme.com/herx-vs-flare-up.html

I struggle with herbals personally.

All four of us are/have been on them. I find them helpful for my kids, but I struggle with them personally.

Like I said, they are good for my kids.
But for me? I'm very iffy on them. They have caused chronic pain for me (a flare that won't go away or heal). I have since stopped the herbals, and many of my symptoms have improved. I wrecked my elbows this past summer (tennis elbow in both), and it was beyond painful. I thought they were healing at one point, but they weren't. They were NOT improving after many months. I finally went off the herbals (extremely low dosage), and my arms are finally starting to heal and are much better. It is remarkable the difference after going off the herbals. This is contrary to what herbals should be doing. But for me, I think some of them create a pro-inflammatory response.

Previously, several months back, I definitely felt like with the cytokine remodulator herbals, which caused pain in prior injuries. When I went off those several months back, the pain went away (but took several weeks).

So, I haven't figured out how to effective use herbals yet for some of my issues. sad And yes, I go slower than vast majority here and do lower dosages for me.

We are all so different. My kids don't have the issues that I have with them.
Kid#1: Extremely sick for several years, very difficult to treat, but doing great now!
Kid#2: Still sick now despite being treated for years but doing better (not well yet).
Kid#3: Generally good but relapsing off/on.
Me: Adv Labs positive 2016 (suspected I passed to my kids)-not as sick as others, mostly battling fatigue and yeast issues (heart/kidney issues resolved)
Treating with herbals now.

Thanks both, i will continue with them and see how it goes, I like the idea of them killing whatever little bugs may still be hanging around smile

I will stay with the low dose for now and admittedly will clean up my diet again. I am generally good but got a little excited when I was symptom free and my love of cheese and all things bad took over a lil.

Also haven’t been taking my activated charcoal every night, I cant find the right time to take it so get up at 3am to take it and have missed a fair few nights. Will get back on it and stay on low dose herbs

We all struggle to figure out this lyme thing. There are so many parts to it all. It is not just taking medicine like other illnesses. It is diet, emotional health, physical health, eating habits, detoxing, sleep patterns, etc.

It is the whole enchilada. And it is difficult to juggle all of those components.

Also remember that symptom free should be for 2 months or more.

I have reached 8 days symptom free before but still have symptoms now so not healed yet.
Meaning I have to stay diligent in taking care of myself and continuing proper treatment, detoxing etc.

Even when I do become better, I believe I will have to do maintenance treatments.

Buhner said the herbals he recommends arnt the only ones that will treat these infections.

So if you ever have issues with a certain herbal , you could always find a substitute one that may work.

Overall I believe the herbals are working but it takes time and lots of tinkering.

Thank you, yeah I was symptom free for a couple of months, I read an article saying sometimes toxins left over from a herx can cause inflammation even 12 months later, who knows! For now I will continue with these and see how I get on if I feel they are not right will look into alternatives
