My main symptom right now is ringing in my head and feeling as if my brain is numb. It almost feels like I have a mild dementia. Slow processing speeds, learning, working memory, drive, executive functioning, and computation. I also used to be a social person and avoid people at all cost even talking on the phone. My self confidence really took a dive because feel I lost of my cognitive capabilities.

Anyone else have this problem? Do they get better or is my brain forever damaged.

I usually get ringing in my head followed by depression and the brain symptoms. The nueroapathy, muscle twitching, OCD and other psychological problems are gone or almost gone.

the good news is I have days now where I am about 85-90% of who I was a year ago. It feels like my mind is literally mush. I worry about future employment.

My brain hasn't completely healed yet. Cognition, memory maybe at about 80-90% of what it was.

It should come back 100%. (it BETTER!)

You're still treating, right?

Woodduck I got mine all back. I had horrible brain fog. I was out of it. I honestly could not complete a sentence. I would go blank mid sentence.

Hubby didn't have the brain fog but he had debilitating tinnitus. It scared me because he really became a recluse.

Both of us are fine now.

You will heal. Just never give up.

Yes! Treatment is me myself and buhner protacol. Called many llmd' s and they do not take insurance. I plan going to my gp and demand treatment. Also, would ignex have a copy of a test from 10 years ago?

HBOT helped resolve Kid#1 persistent, last symptoms that I was worried that they wouldn't ever resolve. It is very healing to the brain.

I think healing the brain can take awhile and be little tricky sometimes. Definitely possible.
Kid#1: Extremely sick for several years, very difficult to treat, but doing great now!
Kid#2: Still sick now despite being treated for years but doing better (not well yet).
Kid#3: Generally good but relapsing off/on.
Me: Adv Labs positive 2016 (suspected I passed to my kids)-not as sick as others, mostly battling fatigue and yeast issues (heart/kidney issues resolved)
Treating with herbals now.

Can't say for sure. I do know Buhner names some herbs that are supposed to restore neural damage - lions mane and Chinese senega root. He also lists a lot of herbs for severe CNS involvement, memory, and neuroborreliosis. They're in the Healing Lyme book.

Woodduck I healed with me, myself, buhner's protocol, beyond balance and this forum.

Oh gosh, and my very supportive husband.

It feels all my symptoms are nuero in nature. It's crazy because my energy is better than it has been in a year but my mind is shot. Last two days just can't make connections around me and feeling depressed. I recently propose to my love. She doesn't know about what has been going on I just said it was stress related. Does anyone know if olive leaf and Paul Arco kill lyme and cross the blood Brain barrier? Can a her happen a hour or less after taking certain herbs?

Yes, I think I had tons of issues. I think I have mentioned many times how I would start a sentence and just stop mid sentence..... I forgot what I was talking about.

I was so lost in another world. It was extremely hard for me. I was a type A, perfectionist and a very driven person. To not be able to think was super scary.

My nerves were all wonky. One day I would have a facial muscle that would twitch constantly. The next day it was my calf. Then my thigh.

I would sit watching tv with hubby and watching my twitches became more entertaining than the show. We joked about me joining the circus. We had to joke because it was so frightening how sick I was.

Neither of us had ever seen me sick. Maybe a cold, but that was the worse sickness I really ever had - a whole 7 days??? Looking back that was nothing.

PeteZa, thank you for reminding us that we can heal and not to give up. So many of us need to hear that on a regular basis!

Woodduck 12, neuro issues are my worst right now -- tingling, burning, vibrating, anxiety. You name it. Sometimes my brain feels like it's on fire. And, sometimes it's so cloudy, I don't know if I'm making any sense (and I'm trying to hold onto my job).

In a year of treatment, I've noticed that my symptoms have changed a lot depending on what I'm going after. I treated Babesia for 6 months and had a brutal headache for much of the time. Neuro issues weren't as bad then.

Now that I'm going after Lyme and Bartonella, the neuro symptoms are through the roof. I'm going to cling to Peteza's message and believe that we can get well and that even the most troubling symptoms can be addressed.

Hang in there and keep the faith,
Kelly

Did anyone feel as if their brain was numb or just not firing? Like a dementia like state?

I've never had dementia to compare it to, but I could not even remember if I took my herbs 3-4 hours ago.

I had to devise a system that said "yes, you took your herbs." I was taking them breakfast, lunch and dinner and at lunch I could not remember if I took breakfast. The entire action of taking them was gone from my brain.

Hi yes with time and treatment it gets better

Are you using any binders and also a neuro detox (for the ammonia that builds up in our brain)?

Binders: activated charcoal
Zeolite
Cholestyramine
Pectin
Website with info: www.prohealth.com/library/showarticle.cfm?libid=29560

Neuro detox: Jernigan's Neuro- Antitox II CNS/PNS formula or Pinella and Burber herbals.

Using a few different binders and the Jerigan's has helped me with some of the neuro herxing and symptoms.

Also to repair damage that has been done from neuro,Buhner suggests these herbals:

Salvia miltiorrhiza
Scutellaria baicalensis
He also says that taking Uncaria rhynchophylla is essential for neuro lyme.
L-Trypophan helps too.

Take care,Jo

Yes, that's what my brain feels like. I feel like I have dementia. I'm thinking about getting tested for early onset alzheimers.

Low thyroid also effects your brain in many ways.

Its best not to assume your thyroid is all fine and dandy if you have brain fog.

Candida is also a cause of brain bog. Lack of sleep to, many here have insomnia.

All the above can be related to lyme and co-infections, or can be separate issues.

Brain Fog has been my most persistent Symtom. Just saw my LLMD this week so I'm in a pre ABX detox period for 1 week. So I've not really started treatment.

I've found a few things that help.

Avoid stress, when by BP is above 135 I start with headaches that bring on Fog.

I,ve learn the term Lyme Rage here and it,s spot on. Funny most time I get it is when a doc or specialist would tell me there is nothing wrong with me. Or my spouse would remind me that all the doc s ive seen stated there was nothing wrong with me. So in short avoid talking to uninformed persons since stupid responses may trigger a bout of Rage, which triggers Brain Fog for me. In fact I still get upset thinking about it.

Last, early on one of my first diagnosis was vertigo. Lotta focus on my inner ear at that time. However at the time I was perscibed Meclizine. Originally I did not take but when I did I found it helped with brain fog.

I think it's the sedative in it that does the trick since a also found lorazepan also helped.

Now I take at mostly only at night as a sleep aid. You want the drowsy version which I think in dramimine OTC.

"Or my spouse would remind me that all the doc s ive seen stated there was nothing wrong with me."

-thats harsh.

The lyme brain fog and brain nuero symptoms are diagnose-able by a lyme literate psychiatrist. Its a 10 hr physical/mental test over two days. They also exclude other possible causes in the test - to narrow it down.

A regular Dr has to way to diagnose this.
Had initial lyme symptoms late 80's, then again w/with bullseye early 90's. Ended ABX for Lyme in 2015. Rebuilding / repairing / fine tuning since then; member "10 Percenters Lyme Club". What an adventure this has been. Did I mention Hashimoto sucks?

astroman, your doc gave you a 10 hour exam to diagnose you with neurolyme? I've never heard of such a thing. That's interesting.

I'm very jealous of people who got rid of neurolyme in 3 months. I've had it for 5 years, and it seems to just progress and worsen no matter what I do.

I've had the same symptoms as the original poster. Burning brain, brain numbness, feels like you're thinking through mud. Not fun.

Lately, in the morning its the worst, and then towards the afternoon it starts to clear up.

I want to find out if there's some sort of cat scan or mri or spect scan that can confirm there's something wrong with my brain.

I replied on your als post too.

"Lately, in the morning its the worst, and then towards the afternoon it starts to clear up."- thats the pattern many report.

Was not my llmd who did that brain test. This dr was a LL psychologist or psychiatrist recommended by my LLMD. I dont even know the diff of the two P's, but this guy new they symptoms of lyme brain. This is a rare but standardized 2 day in office test his colleagues in said field use nation wide. Very little talk about it here - none this year.

Have you tried d-limonene yet?

And, again, messed up thyroid can starve the brain of hormone fuel it needs. I'd guess 1/4 to 1/2 the people here have a somewhat effected thyroid.

A friend of mine today also mentioned Hashimots with me. My PCP only tested my TSH levels. Should I mention any other test to check thyroid function? I suspected for years I had a bad thyriod. I have had low free testorne as well.

Ask for FT3 and FT4 and the thyroid antibodies. ( TPO and TG )
