I finally broke down and started diflucan yesterday at noon since I can't get rid of a yeast infection. Last night I went to bed and couldn't sleep at all, first I couldn't get warm and then I had a horrible panic attack, followed by a sleepless night. Does this sound like a herx or hormones? My cycle has been wacky and it started yesterday as well. Ugh, not sleeping is so miserable!

I don't know for sure, but many have posted about an increase in certain symptoms when they take the anti-fungals.
How long are you going to be taking the Diflucan?

Hi Girlie, I'm not sure I'll continue on the diflucan, I took it today and now I'm having terrible anxiety. I have enough for 2 weeks, just not sure I'm up for feeling extra rotten during the holidays!!

Maybe give it a break...and try resuming after the holidays?

I don't know if anxiety is a symptom...hopefully someone will be a long to help you with this

Thats sounds more like a side affect than a herx. Your not going to herx on it that fast.

I think I herxed on it one-two weeks after starting, I felt hot and sweaty a lot, got these internal heat "waves".

Note: Only two weeks of diflucan is usually not enough to combat yeast. One month is more like it.
Had initial lyme symptoms late 80's, then again w/with bullseye early 90's. Ended ABX for Lyme in 2015. Rebuilding / repairing / fine tuning since then; member "10 Percenters Lyme Club". What an adventure this has been. Did I mention Hashimoto sucks?

Very possibly a herx not only from candida/fungal, but borrelia too. There was a Doctor in Europe that would treat lyme patients with just Diflucan, he'd have a lot of success with the protocol helping patients reach remission. I think he'd cycle with another antibiotic after 2 or 3 months of Diflucan, but Diflucan can kill or stop borrelia from replicating all on its own.

I suspect the borrelia strain and coinfecitons in Europe are a lot different than the states, but that's not saying someone might not get better on just Diflucan. Any treatment like Diflucan or Dapsone that can work without harming the flora in your intestines is great. But then again, both Diflucan and Dapsone can become toxic if you're not detoxing right with milk thistle, alpha lipoic acid and baking soda. Watching liver enzymes are a must if you're taking Diflucan long periods of time.

I tried just using Diflucan years ago in middle of my treatment, didn't work for me, but everybody's body is different, so is the strain of borrelia and coinfections.

You probably did feel a herx!

Thanks for the info Charlie! It would be so nice if there was someway of knowing for sure when it's a herx or a flare or side effects! It would be so helpful if a bell or light went off signaling it's a herx!!!
