My dr has me do blood work every three months. Since January of 2017 my MCH, MCV, Hemoglobin, Hematocrit have been on a steady decline.

My Protein and Albumin were also below range.

I've looked up anemia and chronic illness pointing to Babesia. I've never been tested for it so I have no clue if that is the problem.

I started taking Hemp Oil a few weeks back and I felt so great for a few weeks. Then it stopped working and I have felt bad ever since. I have all the symptoms of being anemic especially the shortness of breath.

I go to the Dr on the 28th but I doubt he will help me with this issue since he focuses mainly on my inflammation and draining my lymphatic system.

Any suggestions??

Have you been tested for heartland virus?

Also, are you vegan?

Hemp oil has iron in it, that might be why you felt good.

Have you tried taking an iron supplement as an experiment? For iron deficient anaemia?

Hi LymeSick

No I have not been tested. Not a vegan either.

I thought about iron supplements and I may give it a go. I've read that some people herx off of taking iron.

It would be a good experiment, imagine feeling a lot better after a week of Iron. You'd have something to tell your doctor and move forward from there. Keep in mind though that anaemia is not always caused by Iron, but it's still good to try.

How are your nails? Are they any different then lets say, earlier in your life?

Do you crave eating weird things? Like paper or dirt or ice or clay or something?

I agree. if it works well then my Dr. can share that with others.

No difference in nails and no cravings.

My hands and feet are constantly cold, I have issues with catching my breath, fatigue and heart palpitations. But I've had those for years.

So Iron may not play in my favor.

Have your doc test for haptoglobin which could help point or not point to hemolytic anemia. The shortness of breath could definitely also point to babesia. Babesia *does* cause hemolytic anemia, which is not regular anemia. I had all of the signs of it from babs too (incl. abnormal haptoglobin).
