Hi everyone, I have a couple of question about the ELISA test that im sure you could help me with. I had one done 8 weeks ago before I started ABX which came back positive but low at 1.1. After 8 weeks of treatment with Minociclina 200mg per day I just had another one done that came back higher at 1.45.

I was just wondering, is it normal for it to go up after starting treatment and is it a good or bad sign? The past couple of weeks I have started to feel much better and many of my symptoms seem to have subsided to the point where I was able to return to work this week after 5 months off.

Also, after the first test I had tge western blot and testing for coinfections done, all of which came back negative but with a note saying this could be caused by herbal suplements i was taking. I had smoked some canabis a couple of days before the test, could this effect the results and if so do you think its worth getting re-tested?

Thanks in advance, the help you give on this forum really is amazing when you dont know where to turn.

The ELISA is based on immune function - so it could be that since treatment, your immune system is able to produce a better response.

Can't base when to stop treatment on the ELISA or the WB unfortunately.

Re-testing lyme isn't necessary...unless you're trying to get a positive for insurance purposes.

Testing for co-infections - can be useful - if you have the money to spend and if you get a positive. A negative won't tell you much.

Thanks for the reply, yes the second test was just for the insurance company, as for smoking cannabis, do you think it could have effected results of the western blot?
