So my wife started 1tsp a day of Xylitol (along with lactoferrin) to start busting up biofilms and she developed a bad headache so she backed down to 1/2 tsp and its still there but better.

Herx or side effect? Trying to figure this out as any research I've done doesn't list a headache as being a potential side effect. Looking for anyone else that's maybe had similar experiences. Thanks.

lactoferrin is from milk, so has she ever shown any problems with dairy products?

And here is a link about xylitol - /draxe.com/xylitol-side-effects/

It is a low grade sugar and could feed yeast/fungus.

Maybe it's the lactoferrin?

I found this:

"Use caution in people taking agents that affect the nervous system due to reports of dizziness, headache, and fatigue following lactoferrin use. "

Maybe combined with the antibiotics - that cross blood/brain barrier...???

Without a doubt herxing in my opinion!

You combine xylitol or stevia supplement with tindazole or flagy, you'll definitely see some herxing.

I got headaches when I was taking stevia and dapsone together, wake up with a bad headache or feel a surge in the head. It was only on occasion, but I knew it was herxing considering the other effects I felt in my body.

I took pyrazinamide with rifampin and stevia, got some head surges and headaches...

Pyrazinamide supposed to cross the brain barrier real well, Dapsone too I think. I never felt headaches like this before since beginning stages of treatment and that was like 6 years ago. I'm at 90% now, I never felt clear headed before like I do with Dapsone, just like Dr. Horrowitz's wife expressed, so it tells me it's working.

I say keep at the treatment, if it becomes too unbearable, tone down the treatment. Use a pill splitter or even take a few days off, then jump back on, this will let your body detox. I've found that detoxing with Liverite Liver Aid helps, because it gets rid of the toxins. As well as occasional detox with baking soda with water or alkasetser as recommended by Dr. Horrowitz.

You start using the real heavy duty antibiotics like Dapsone, big time detoxing is a must, including breaks. With time, the herxing and symptoms will go away slowly...

What are you on, have you tried minocycline or roxithromycin? Those were two get lower level antibiotics that worked well for neuro lyme, before you jump up to anything serious like Dapsone.

Anyways, stay strong and keep at it!

Sounds like she's on the protocol I'm about to start. Hope she's feeling better.

Does she also have the stiff neck that cracks when she moves? if yes, it sounds like a herx.
