Woodland Essence is a good source - if you're wanting tincture form.

If you're wanting capsules - Green Dragon Botanicals is another good source.

And...it's on Buhner's recommended list

Our answer here is make our own. Knotweed is an invasive plant in these parts of Canada. As such, every municipality is fighting this plant pest. It grows along road side ditches and in low moist soils here in very many places. Find a spot where you know the plant has not been attacked by herbicides and then dig up all you want. Pickle clean chopped up roots in as strong an alcohol solution as you can for a month and voila, you have japanese knotweed tincture. You can also use fresh stalks or young shoots as salad or you can cook these and make a delicious knotweed pie. All parts of this plant are edible but as the plant ages, the stalks become quite stringy. The taste of the plant is like a light version of rhubarb. Sour but not much.

well knotweed contains oxalic acid which can be toxic in high doses.
So it's probably better to only use the young shoots for spicing your salad bowl as they contain less of this substance than the more mature parts of the plant.
I wonder how much oxalic acid the roots contain...

Insoniaaa, you are right. A couple of years ago i prepared myself a whole pot full of fresh japanese knotwood shoots, and i got into them and ate them all. An hour or so later, the whole lot of this went right through me and out the other end. I had too much of it. After this, i know as with everything, moderation is the key. I take 1 tablespoons twice a day of the home made tincture. The worst you could do is get just slightly drunk on it but 2 tablespoons a day is not an alcohol habit. smile

I bought mine off of Amazon from Hawaii Pharm. And eventually I went directly to Hawaii Pharm and bought mine. It is called Hu Zhang. I also like Hawaii Pharm because you can buy the tinctures in non-alcohol form. Most of their herbs are organic, but not this one. But it is non GMO.
