I've had a horrible week. Today is the worst of it. vomiting nothing because I can't eat, the nausea is consuming me. I've collapsed twice. I can't keep water down.

It's almost a year since I went to hospital under similar circumstances, spent 2 days with many tests done, to uncover nothing, and the last doctor I saw before leaving was the hospital shrink who wanted to put me on benzos.

I left there and said I would never go back. they wouldn't give me any of my prescriptions while I was there including my thyroid med😟

My gut hurts so badly from all the dry heaving and I'm so parched my lips are cracking. I drink and it sets me off again. Guess I just need some reassurance. Thanks guys.

Aww, PK - I'm so sorry.

Maybe for the next while, just rinse your mouth out with water...and not swallow it if you're just bringing it back up.

But, you're going to need fluids if this goes on much longer.

If you can't keep water down...you may need some IV treatment to take care of your dehydration.
I know you don't want to go to the hospital...but it may be necessary if this doesn't resolve soon.

Do you think you may have caught a stomach bug? I’m worried you may be dehydrated. I don’t know, if you can’t keep water down you may need IV. I understand you not wanting to go, but if you feel super bad....

Aw, I'm sorry you're so sick! sad

How long have you been unable to keep water down? Are you dehydrated? Can you sip some tea with ginger? That's usually better for me before water. Or flat ginger ale, or possibly suck on ice chips?

If you do decide to go in, you could go just for fluids. You don't have to agree to any testing and they can't force you to stay.

I hope you feel better very soon!

Well it looks like three of us were posting about the same time...and all mentioned IV therapy.

As Dahlias said - maybe just get that..and deny the testing...if you can.

Pkitty-

I know you don't want to go in but dry heaving and dehydration can be very serious. Just ask for help in stopping the dry heaves and hydration - antinausea med and iv. Can you also bring a friend/loved one to back you up with your wishes?

Big hugs.

Girlie - I was in a similar situation after my barium swallow. I could not stop throwing up. I couldn't tolerate even a sip of water. Only bile was coming up.

My husband had to take me in. The combo of anti nausea and IV turned me around. I think it might stop the cycle for "P-kitty", too .

I didn't even think of the P-kitty sounding like P-diddy. You are right smile

Hoping your evening turns around P-kitty.

I've been like this since yesterday around noon. Earlier in the week, I had spurratic vomiting, but was doing ok with fluids. Just freakin worn out.

I just looked at my records and I was in hospital 12/22 23 and discharged on Christmas eve last year. I'm sure the hospital shrink would have a hay day with that coincidence. He was so condensending and insulting.

Husband just made me a cup of peppermint tea 😮 I'll drink it in honor of "Peppermint Tea" for good luck. thank you all.

What is with us lymies and our health anniversaries? We have a few, too.

Glad to hear you have a hubby looking after you. Yes. Peppermint tea can help. I hope it does the trick.
But if not, I am glad someone has a watchful eye.

Sending positive vibes.

Warmly -

Peppermint Tea

Maybe it wouldn't make much difference, but do you live near an Urgent Care (UC) clinic, versus a full-blown Emergency Room (ER)? I find UC clinics to be faster, friendlier, and more cost-effective than an ER, most of the time.

Before I read everyone else's responses, my first thought was you likely need some I.V. fluids, due to dehydration. Please keep your safety and your health foremost in mind.

If you go to UC or ER, bring your meds and keep them in your pocket/purse and don't mention them to anyone. If possible, smuggle a small bottle of water with you - at least enough to take your meds. Or, less ideal, you can ask to go the bathroom and drink from the sink. When I go the ER, I always bring a LÄRABAR with me, because I know I will get hungry, as they keep me there for hours. I also bring earplugs, a jacket, iPod, hat, and sunglasses, since often I go for Migraines and it's cold and loud in there.

It's better to get help that's not needed, versus not getting help when you do need it!

I hope you feel better soon. Please update us, when you're able.

Sincerely,
The Dude

Good advice Dude. Last time i got caught with my drugs. After laying awake the first night, the second night, I took an Ambien. They found them in the bedside drawer and took them. I waited two hours to get them back after discharge. Guess I was being punished. also, they wanted to switch my naturethroid for a synthetic. Freaking hospital. I need help but I can't go back there.
