I posted about it in another one of my threads and I know others have posted about it to in other threads, but I am having this very specific localized pain on my head (I can point directly to it). It feels like pressure from the inside along with this weird painful sensation on my scalp that almost hurts to touch.

This has been going on for a week now along with dizziness and brain fog. I just feel very very "out of it" and spacy. I went shopping yesterday to return things and every time I got into a store I just felt soooo overwhelmed I couldn't focus on anything. I had to get out and stop. This has been going on though since starting mepron for babesia 5 weeks ago...

I am just not sure if this is a babesia herx from the mepron or a mychoplasma or CPN herx from the Zithromax or side effects or what. But, I am concerned about the head pressure. I feel like I need a CT.

Maybe I am just being overly worried about something that will just go away, but it is scary. I have hit my out of pocket maximum for the year with insurance so an ER visit would be free, but not sure if it would be worth it.

My parents think that it's probably just a weird lyme thing and that doctors wouldn't do any help. Plus waiting in the ER for hours and being exposed to germs could also not be good.

I have had a cold so not sure if that is part of the scalp sensitivity and pressure, but the cold seems to be getting better and the head pressure - not so much.

Just want opinions of what might be going on and what you would do in this situation.

For increased symptoms you should back down on your meds and try and get leveled out.

Why aren't you doing your tincture drops 3 times a day?

You could be having a lapse in coverage when you only do them 2 times a day.

Have you tried ibuprofen for the head inflammation?

I used an ice pack when my head pain was super intense.

I'm so sorry, I know this pain well and I certainly do feel for you.

I so dislike hospitals. I don't think I have heard of too many good experiences from a lyme patient. They just don't know a thing about lyme there.

Only you can decide if you need to go but about 5 weeks in to starting my treatment I had similar symptoms. I was so dizzy and spaced out with a constant pressure in my head type head ache.

I was seriously convinced I had encephalitis, I took myself to the ER twice within a week where they ran some tests told me i was fine and sent me home again. Luckily these symptoms gradully passed within a couple of weeks. I now think it was a herx but of course dont know for sure.

Hope you feel better soon

I had bad head symptoms with the Mepron. Pressure inside my head behind my eyes.

Take a few days off of it and see how you feel.

Although it does have a long half-life of 2-3 days....so it takes a long time for it to leave your system.

PeteZa - I can start doing them three times a day. Right now we are on Christmas break for work until the 2nd so it would be easy, but the reason I didn't before was because I didn't want to take all my herbs to work with me. I may just add them all in a little bit of water before work and take it with me, or just take it as soon as I get home then again before bedtime. Do you think that maybe this is why I haven't seen much improvement with the herbs? I just need to take the same dosage but spread it out throughout the day?

I did try Ibuprofen (two liquid gels) and that didn't put a dent in the pressure..

Spanish - My girlfriend is a nurse and she mentioned encephalitis, I feel the same way.. were you treating babesia or just lyme?

Girlie - I have thought about taking a break but at the same time I always tell myself - if this is a herx I want to power through to get through it and not take a break to allow any infections to gain any ground..

Nic,

I've never done abx for babesia, but head pressure is very much a babesia symptom. I think Girlie has the right idea to back off some on the Mepron until the herx passes. Also, if you have kudzu, that is what Buhner recommends for the head pressure.

I understand about wanting to push through, but a herx is excessive inflammation. Inflammation can interfere with healing, and a real cytokine storm can spiral out of control. You don't want that to happen. You're not going to jeopardize recovery by backing off during a herx. Think of it as working with your body to help it heal as opposed to running over it like a bulldozer.

Remember that the herbs are killing stuff, too. You're taking a lot of medication, both Rx and herbal, for multiple infections.

I added a link to this article on babesia symptoms. Looks like our scalp sensations and tenderness may be from babesia. www.gordonmedical.com/unravelling-complex-chronic-illness/babesia-like-organisms-bablo-consideration-signs-and-symptoms/

There were days when I was away from my tinctures. Here is what I did.

I got a used amber tincture bottle and I put all my tincture dosages in that bottle like I would have done in a glass at home.

When I was out and about I always have water with me. So I would put the tinctures in a cup, add some water and chug away. No one ever knew.

Most herbalist I know do not like lapses in coverage of herbs. You need continual coverage. In fact if you get to 3 times a day and do not see improvement, you should go to 4 times a day. Breakfast, lunch, dinner and bed.

One of buhner's herbalist was who recommended this.

You all are so awesome and you have no idea how thankful I am to have all of you supporting me through all of this! smile

I will take a break for a few days and see if the dizzyness and head pressure decrease.

I'll post any updates!

Taking a break does not mean stopping detoxing, okay?

Good luck and hope you feel better.

Hi I also had the head soreness just in one spot but it did go away.

Pete Za is correct, if you ca do the herbals three times a day it is much better.

I have progressed overall from doing this..I just had to work through some herxing so be careful and slowly add the 3 rd time in. maybe just do 1/4 of the dose for a few days then work up to a complete dose slowly.

Herxing is not good for us and for some of us it can really be troublesome.

Hello again everyone,

I took a break and have been detoxing a lot - milk thistle for liver, pinella/burbur for brain, alka seltzer gold and activated charcoal.

I have been off the mepron and Zithromax now for 3 days and not feeling much better.

The weird head sensations are pretty much gone, but the dizziness/out of it feeling and fatigue/weakness is still very much here. I feel like I am at the end of my ropes and not sure what is going on.. if it is just babesia that I need to keep fighting with mepron and Zithromax or if it could all be bartonella and I am wasting my time with trying to treat babesia..

I am also really worried because I have to travel for work to Oklahoma City (I live in Indiana) for a week in just a couple weeks and then two weeks in Italy starting the first of February..

I'm glad the weird head sensations are gone. The other issues should improve gradually. I had a very bad neuro herx last fall and it took more than a month, maybe two, for the inflammation to go away and the dizziness to subside. Rest and keep detoxing, and you should feel better in time.

A friend posted this yesterday and I had to laugh: "This too shall pass. It might pass like a kidney stone, but it will pass." That is my new motto. Lol.

Hope you feel better soon!

Dahlias,
Love that quote!!! Thanks for sharing that.

Nic,
Sorry you're still feeling bad. I understand the worries about travel. I went through that too. Can you talk to your supervisor about it in case you're not able to go when the time comes?

Thank you, both of you!

I will probably start up the mepron again tonight. I don't want to stay off of it too long. I spent a lot of money on it and want it to be able to do its job..

I see my LLMD again next thursday so we will see what she has to say. I am going to ask to get tested for everything again - babesia, bartonella, CPN, Mycholasma, EBV. We haven't tested for a year and I was positive for CPN and Mycho before.

WalkingbyFaith - My supervisor is pretty understanding when it comes to my condition because her daughter has a rare autoimmune disease that presents itself the same as Lyme. But, the issue is, we are having a big software rollout in February and we are all going to different locations. If I backed out, I am not sure what they would do.. I will definitely talk with her about it during my next one-on-one meeting with her.
