Hi everyone!

I am wondering if it is ok to take the powder form of certain herbs that Buhner recommends taking tinctures of? Earlier in his 2nd edition of Healing Lyme, he mentioned that he prefers the powder because the human digestive system is the best extractor for taking what it needs from the whole herb. But also in his Core Protocol, he recommends certain herbs as being taken as tinctures. My question is, does it really matter? I prefer taking the bulk powder because it is cheaper and I was going off of his philosophy that the human body is best at extracting what it needs. Thoughts?

I don't see why not.

I didn't know Buhner actually specified tinctures over powdered herbs.

We have had (and still have) members who are taking the herbs in powder form.

Hi Maverick,
For the most part, it all depends on what works best for your body. I take several tinctures, but I also use several herbs as loose powders (and add them to pomegranate juice as Buhner suggests).

The tinctures I take are mainly for digestive help, as they work better for me as tinctures, then I use red root, kudzu root, turmeric, and a couple of mushroom powders.

Besides, using the powders is less expensive, even though I make my own tinctures.

I did tinctures for the convenience. I know some that have healed making their own tinctures from the dried herbs. I also know some that are on their way to wellness doing powders.

I was just about to start the whole tincture making process when I healed. I got down to the resources for organic alcohol, the press, etc.

If it is working for you with powders, I say stick with that.
