Hello all,

I am looking for the latest information regarding Lyme-induced psychosis and treatments for that. I would love to know if anyone knows someone in North Carolina involved in treating it.

I have a friend that is suffering from increasingly frequent psychotic episodes and I am trying to get them out of the current 'treatment' which appears to be random throwing psych drugs at the wall and insisting that Lyme is not involved in spite of the fact that it was confirmed by Igenix etc.

thank you

Hi elan8000 - welcome!

First - Thank YOU for helping your friend with this...you are a gem!

So what your friend needs is treatment for Lyme disease and co-infections. Is she getting that...or just psych meds from the Psychiatrist?

We can help you find her a LLMD.

You can start a new thread here: "looking for LLMD in North Carolina"
Then enable your email and members can send you names privately. We don't post the names of the LLMD's on here for their privacy/protection.

You can also email me and I'll check my list for options.

Just click on the envelope below my screen name on the left hand side.

Also - take a look through the thread at the top of the page: "New to Lyme?..Start Here!" It's packed full of information. We encourage our new members to go there.

What she can also do is start a detoxing regimen.

Start with a few methods...and gradually add in more - one by one every few days until she is detoxing multiple methods daily.

Often it is the toxins from the bacteria (of the infection) that cause inflammation, and the symptoms.

Detoxing, will help with the clearing of the toxins.

Immediately she can start with:

- Drinking lots of water daily
- Taking something to assist her liver with detox (eg. Milk thistle seed extract)
- taking probiotics to improve gut health

Then every few days add in something else...some more ideas:

- Adding fresh squeezed lemon juice into some of the water she's drinking
- Taking warm epsom salt baths (NOT HOT)
- dry brushing the skin prior to bathing and baths. (opens up the pores to allow more toxins to exit)
- Get plenty of rest - good sleep every night

Psych meds well never cure the various infections. Cure the various infections and most likely there will be no need for psych meds.
My doc treat my hidden dental infection and treated parasite and I became functional again. Now I use ozone to kill off remaining infections. That's what worked for me

This phenomenon can be caused by various things relating to Lyme: brain swelling, cytokines, toxic byproducts (i.e. amonia), even hypersensitivity to psych meds themselves if someone has Lyme -- but it's also heavily associated with having coinfections such as bartonella and babesia. There is an expert in bartonella in your state and an excellent lab there for testing bartonella (that also tests for the other infections too), that may be a place to start.

JustPiccd - can you let me know about the lab? My friend had already been diagnosed with several co-infections. The issue now is treatment.

thank you for the detox suggestions. My friend has been doing all those and Gerson, etc. for over two years. Now very expert treatments are needed due to the advanced state sad

Best to all and hope for a healthier new year!

Yes, she definitely needs treatment for the infections.

...and with a LLMD who has a lot of experience.

Can someone let me know if it's okay to post lab name publicly? I wasn't sure about this since I'm new here.

Hm, okay well I just read the forum rules and see nothing about not posting lab names, so I'll assume this is okay unless someone corrects me. The NC lab is Galaxy diagnostics: http://www.galaxydx.com/web/

They really *are* top notch around bartonella, given that their lead people having published most of the published research on bart going back many yrs. They may be able to refer you to other resources in-state.

Yes - posting names of Labs is fine.

Galaxy Lab is one that is discussed on this forum.
There's a webinar on Bartonella with Dr M that that has also been posted and discussed on here a few times.

Weaning off psych drugs can be dangerous. I hope that a doctor is involved in this process.

An Igenex positive lyme test given to a lyme literate medical doctor will get them help.
