Hello all. Had another question, starting to get some of my herbals in. I under stand the need to start low and slow.

with tinctures tho, i was unsure about the drops.

is one drop, a single drop or a whole dropper full. i want to start out with red sage and skull cap, but was unsure if i should try a whole dropper full or individual drops.

also, was unsure how people take that, mix it some water or under the tongue.

thanks a lot

One drop. And do one herb at a time to test for allergies.

A dropper full is about 30 drops, but you could count to find an exact measure.

OK thanks a lot PeteZa.

does that get mixed with some water, just under the tongue? I would imagine its hard to control just dropping a single drop under the tongue

We start with one drop. There are those on this board that actually do one drop divided up over a whole day (if you are super sensitive).

Two of us mix it with water, one of us with cranberry, and one of us with apple juice. It's how I make it work with kids. smile
Kid#1: Extremely sick for several years, very difficult to treat, but doing great now!
Kid#2: Still sick now despite being treated for years but doing better (not well yet).
Kid#3: Generally good but relapsing off/on.
Me: Adv Labs positive 2016 (suspected I passed to my kids)-not as sick as others, mostly battling fatigue and yeast issues (heart/kidney issues resolved)
Treating with herbals now.

I just put my drop in a glass and added enough water for a gulp. Then to make sure I got it all I put another splash of water in the glass and took another drink.

Doesn't seem to matter if you do it before or after a meal.

I did mine 3 times a day.

OK thanks a lot. so, people do it either way, under tongue or mixed.

start with 1 drop, then keep ramping up.

from the Buhner book, combined with equal parts of salvia miltiorhiza and scutellaria baicalensis, 1tsp 3x daily.

so, this would then go drop by drop all the way up 2.5 droppers full of each (since 1 dropper is .20 tsp), 3 times a day

just wanted to make sure i am interpretting this correctly. thanks

I read this part in buhner's book about Red Sage and Skullcap and with my lyme fogged brain I mixed both tinctures together and took them.

I was so brain foggy. I don't recommend doing this. What if you are allergic to one of them?

I had no problem, but I did not even consider the consequences. I would never have discovered which one I was allergic to and I would have wasted one of the bottles being poured into the other.

Dingbat lyme brain mistake.

So, do one of the herbs, 1 drop, one time a day and on the next day do it 1 drop, 3 times a day. If you have no problems, go to 2 drops, 3 times a day. Then it is all in how daring you are. Maybe to to 5, 3 times a day. If you feel "off" in any way, back down on the number of drops, not the times per day.

After you think you are fine, go ahead and start the next herb.

This is NOT how most on here suggest. I kept on the one herb until I was at my maximum dose or close enough to the max dose that buhner suggests. Then I added in the next herb.

I went up rather quickly in my herbs by doing it this way and if I had any strange reactions, I could tell exactly which herb it was because I knew I was fine at the max dose of the last herb.

I healed doing it this way.

I don't think this is a popular way of this forum so I don't put it out there much. Feel free to email me if you want any particulars. I hate to go against this forum's general consensus.

The reason why it is suggested to add in second herb after you are on low dose of one herb is because the Herbs work synergistically.
I believe it was our past forum moderator cd3764 who explained that.

So still start with only one herb and titrate up for a couple of weeks and then add in the second herb.. etc.
When you're taking them all at low dose- you can then continue to increase each one individually.

Thanks a lot. i get the doing one at a time, and ramping up. just was unsure about the max dosage limit.

it sounds like most people do not come close to the max noted in buhner.

Putting tinctures under the tongue can cause damage to those tissues there. I would encourage people to add to just a bit of water and drinking it down instead - it's the stomach acid that pulls the most constituents from the tinctures, so it needs to get to the stomach anyway.
