I'm new here and new to all this... thx in advance for your patience.

I am on a clean diet, sugar, dairy and gluten free. Low grains. No alcohol.

I am off antibiotics at the moment - started with Doxy for a month and am waiting for Dr to get back to me on next steps.

Can you detox your body even tho you're not on meds or herbs? I'm confused - do you detox only when you're on abx or herbals bc that's when the toxins build up? Or should I be detoxing all the time trusting that my body is possibly fighting against the bacteria as well?

Thanks

Hi, Dash626:

Welcome to the community.

If you've not yet had a chance to do so, when you're able, please take a look at the following thread:

New to Lyme? Start Here!

It's full of good information -- including detoxing.

You mentioned you're on a "clean" diet. That means different things to different people. What does a "clean" diet mean to you?

Wishing you the best,
The Dude

Dash, I detoxed way before I even knew that was what it was called. I thought I was helping my liver, or my kidneys.

I think detoxing is important all the time. The toxins we come in contact with on a daily basis can accumulate in our body. Just driving down the road is full of toxins. I keep my recycle air button on in my car and replace that interior filter timely.

All the toxins coming from people's smells. Their cologne, hair products, the laundry soap they used. All toxins.

Plastics, carpet, paints - all toxins.

Yes, we do need to detox daily regardless of lyme.

Welcome to our forum,

Yes you have gotten good advice already on detoxing, it is so important.

On another note..if your still having symptoms or haven't been treated with the proper dosage of ABX ,it would be best to have continuous treatment to fight these infections.

If you had symptoms you should treat until you have NO symptoms for at least two months or more.

Take care and I wish you the best of healing, Jo

It's best to detox regularly - not just when the toxins are building up.

It's best to do several detox methods daily.

Are you taking probiotics? Something for your liver?
Making sure you drink plenty of water daily?

My favorite deotx is having a warm epsom salt bath (and dry brushing my skin prior to the bath)

Thank you for your guidance. I am trying to take an epsom salt bath everyday and doing the same for my girls. Drinking lemon water. And exploring other ways ... Thanks again.

Just keep gradually adding in another detox every few days...so that you are doing several methods daily.
