My BP was sometimes up to 140-150 (top #) when during lyme treatment. So BP med helped and it helped with body tremors (Rx Propanerolo does both).

This is related to adrenal issues and anziety two, but funny how these are usually addressed / mentioned individually.

My adrenals and anxiety are way better but I still takes some natural sups for these, but not all the time.

I'd like to try natural remedies known more for lowering BP, So I'm wondering if anyone has luck with this. I read about hawthorn and grape seed extract together, I assume there are more.

If I do all three (adrenals, anxiety and BP) they should all help each other, that is my theory.

Notes: I have a BP cuff meter too. Giving up salt will be hard, seems impossible as I crave salt - its good for adrenals but bad for vein walls (BP), go figure. I drink AM coffee again (bad for BP), I'm hooked since I'm not a morning person living in a morning world - I work. I exercise enough too.

I can't imagine my life without salt and coffee (not a morning person either lol) and in my experience colostrum (even milk to some extent) lowers blood pressure tremendously. High blood pressure runs in my family, so this is my main concern as I become older.

Hawthorn is awesome. My herbalist also recently recommended to take NeuroProtek which has luteolin, quercetin and rutin in it which are good for cardiovascular health and it seems to be healthy. CoQ10 is also heart healthy.

Red- Unfortunately, I need to be dairy free.......no milk products then, thanks though.

Both M's-

Hawthorn? - If you've used it, care to share approx dose? I have actually tried it as extract in capsules, BP meter tested it, 150mg was not noticeable.

Multiple daily doses better, or ect? - not much detailed info online. Info is not consistent.

For some reason it seems important to ask questions before experimenting with my heart- no spare on hand!

(What was nice about the Rx - it was time released.)

I'm still alive.

BP top # was 130 before then about 125 in one hour after taking two hawthorn. A couple hrs after it was still 125. My cuff can vary +/- 10 points pretty easy, so I try to take an average of several tries. My BP is usually higher mid morning just like my anxiety was/(still can be, but less- adrenal related too).

Then I went lake ice riding for 3hrs so I'm now completely pooped - post exercise alone lowers BP. My BP is 107/70 in my current post ride vegetative state. I would have expected 115-120/75 relaxing after a ride. So maybe taking more Hawthorn did something.

On you tube it was mentioned that it does surprisingly "build up" in you. Their daily dose amounts were pretty big though (a lot LOL), funny since it would be different for everyone. Might be a good question for an herbalist.

I think I should read up more on this before using during the work week. Or maybe just one every other day (or night instead), so some is still in me.

AM - Buhner says hawthorn is a "food-grade herb; it is tremendously safe. it is about as dangerous as its close relative apple."

I take 2 capsules (500 mg) up to 3x a day (usually it is just 1 or 2x a day). I've never had any issue with it.

Holly buckets. I imagine you arrived at this dose while monitoring your BP....(?)

for hawthorn i take 20-30 drops of extract 1:4 before bed.
lowers BP and also makes me sleepy. it relaxes blood vessels they say... no idea if it's true or not, but certainly makes me sleepy, so....

I've been taking hawthorn for a couple years now and never new it could make me sleepy.
I'll have to try it close to bed time.

Also, my husband needs 'help' sleeping so I'll pass on this information to him.

Hmm.....sleepy is not what I'm looking for though.

I'm hoping it brought you to a more normal state, helping you sleep vs "sleepy".

If someone has any anziety, usually some elevated BP comes with that, lowering BP should make them "comfortable" enough to sleep better.
