I've been on doxy, azithromycin and tinidazole for almost 2 weeks now. Untill the 12 day, i didn't experience anything beyond more headaches or weakness, that i was able to deal with. But since the 12th day, i started having some kind of bowel discomfort or bowel tightness, it feels like a mild, but still noticeable burning. It started after i took a probiotic at 12 pm, not an antibiotic, but i'm not sure. I see people have taken abx for years, so hopefully i won't have to stop because of this discomfort, but did any of you on long term abx experience anything like this and could it be a symptom of abx disrupting my gut flora or maybe candida overgrowth?

I should note that i've had this kind of bowel discomfort half a year ago without ever taking any medication, let alone abx. And i remember the discomfort got significantly worse when i would drink a lot of alcohool. The discomfort lasted for about 2 weeks and i was in the hospital.

Magnesium help regularity if thats part of your issue- there was just a post on this few days ago "constipation".

I hope you stopped drinking for now. And learn about clean diets if you have not done that yet. That will help fend off candida and increase your immune strength. Most dont want to , then eventually learn.
Had initial lyme symptoms late 80's, then again w/with bullseye early 90's. Ended ABX for Lyme in 2015. Rebuilding / repairing / fine tuning since then; member "10 Percenters Lyme Club". What an adventure this has been. Hashimotos adds to the enjoyment.

I never drink. In fact, it was a wedding, for which i was invited and i drank a lot that particular night. Though, i've had this type of discomfort for a few days before that wedding. But by the time i went to the wedding, it kind of stopped and reactivated when i began to drink heavily wine and champagne.

It is not constipation. I probably didn't explain it good enough, but the discomfort is located around my belly button, so i assume it is related to bowel/gut.

Now that i think about, what if it is colon cancer or worse, autoimmune like Crohn's?

Even though, i never had blood in my stool, but what i had, even just recently, were some kind of reddish/brownish "things" in it. At first, i thought maybe it was blood, but then i googled and it turns out it was a parasite(?).

Okay, i conclude it is probably from tinidazole, that is treating some kind of protozoa infection.
I am taking tinidazole pulsed only on saturday and sunday, and yesterday after a whole week of azithromycin and doxy, i started having this discomfort, then it probably is from tini doing something. Thank you all.
