Any thoughts or experiences trying to hit unknown coinfections with herbs and watching for a response?

So far-
I've taken two 2 oz bottles of CSA (one dropper full 2x/ day)...so for about 3mos now with no change in symptoms.

( I would have like to taken 3x a day at even higher dosage - perhaps I will nxt. I can't seem to get in mid afternoon doses!)

Also, Any expierience with woodland essence CSA or the other combo with houttania, is it ISA? Thinking of doing that one next. Or maybe I'd be better with single herbs??

THANKYOU

There is an IHA which is Isatis, Houttuynia and Alchornea

CSA is Crytolepis, Sida acuta and alchornea cordifolia.

I think you should try and get in that third dosage. One of Buhner's recommended herbalists told one of the Mods here (cd3764) to increase her dosing from 3X daily to 4X - to keep a consistent level in the blood stream.

I did the CSA and Houttuynia on it's own...I really didn't notice anything (not that I can remember)

I may add some of those herbs back in when I'm getting close to weaning off my abx.

Lightlife are you seeing an herbalist for your treatment or following a protocol?

Herbal challenge is a great idea vs "guessing" on what infection and diving into said protocol.

In reality, there is a lot of guessing in the lyme community.

I dont understand why this approach is not popular with the popular tick Dr infection gurus.

I too never had any reaction to crypto, sida or Hout taken alone, or CSA blend for that matter. But have made good improvements since adding these Buhner recommended herbs and JK Plus into my ABX regimen. I also have a difficult time taking these tinctures 3x a day since noon is reserved for magnesium and probiotics, so I just up the dosage on herbs.

Two years or so ago I weaned off abx and stayed on CSA, JK and Cat's Claw for maintenance, but quickly relapsed and took two years to get back to 90+% well. For past 8 months I've been on JK Plus and Hout full time, with pulsing tetra, Diflucan, and Alinia two week ON and three weeks OFF.

These herbs are expensive so its a tough call how long to stay on them, especially if progress is slow and tough to measure.

tickbite do you have candida? I have 2 friends that had to stop Buhner's protocol, deal with the candida and then go back on the herb protocol to get well.

I've had my share of high-end VSL3 DS probiotics, long term Nystatin with rotating in Diflucan, and rotating in Candida Support herbals. Been treating with ABX since March 2010, so yes I probably have some candida imbalances. But stay aware and address. Never had crusty white tongue

Thanks soooo much you all!

Yes hoping to go a level deeper and uncover something. And treat something. Currently doing GD Lyme core though I'm taking slow boat as in I have def plateaued - mostly symptom free until stress... then I feel it bubbling below surface and a twitchy or a brain fog day arises. I'm taking slow road by not amping up dosages and herbs more aggressively and not yet addresssing cysts / biofilms. I have two small children that keep me preoccupied and keep me cautious in stirring up things too much.

I will try CSA at higher dosage 3-4x a day. Then if nothing in a months time I will add in hout. Or IHA . Or maybe do Hout or IHA first since hot feet years ago.

P- I am following bruhners protocol although my dosages are too low and will be increasing . Currently using the Green Dragon herb capsules and adding in neuro herbs. Spot treating with herbs if need be.
I am self treating, with the help of you all!!!...smile wink and hugs!

Then I'm also at the same level. 90 to 95% most days, but hi work stress definitely triggers return of some sx.

Bryan Rosner writes that the last 20% of healing is the most difficult.... very true.

Sometimes an underlying co-infection can prevent progress, and if you haven't addressed cysts or biofilm yet could be an issue. Do you take Serrapeptase or another enzyme for bi-film? Had a round of Flagyl or TindaMax? or take GSE?

No I haven't. I'm a bit scared. Waiting for the right time. Going to try the gse and or serrapeptase...any recommendations? I am thinking I must increase doses of killer herbs when doing so...

I will maybe try in summer as I think the heat helps and less stress then. After I increase dosages of herbs.

I am wondering if the timing matters at all as far as ...going for unknown coinfections first or the lyme biofilm /cyst first....

Most here take NutriBiotic GSE Grapefruit Seed Extract Liquid - Vitacost usually has a good price. There were a lot of discussion years back that it was tainted with some impurities, but most of that talk has settled down. GSE is suppose to be a mild cyst buster and also helps control candida.

Doctors Best has a high potency Serrapeptase that I like, and I switch to Lumbrokinase ever so often to change things up (but it is pricey). Might want to try the regular strength Serrapetase first to see how you react. Lots of sites have 50% sales on Dr Best products now and then so its good to shop around Pureformulas, Lucky Vitamin, Vitacost and Swanson sites.

I would hit the biofilm first since co-infections also hang out there. Buhner doesn't think biofilms are a major issues worth treating since he says everyone has them. But I think it's just another rock to turn over as we look for answers.

good luck
