I've read that a herx usually takes between 48 to 72 hours to rear it's ugly head after taking antibiotics.

Is this a general average? I just started a new protocol 8 hours ago, and my anxiety is through the roof.

Is it possible to start herxing this soon after taking abx?

I react that quickly. I've not been able to get a straight answer if that's a herx or side effect. According to Burrascano, it takes 48-72 hours for the bugs to start dying off after abx. I get anxiety also. Which abx are you talking about?

everyone is different. for example my wife and i both start feeling the herx about 3-4 hours after taking meds.

so if it takes 48-72 hours then what am i feeling a few hours after popping pills? doesn't add up.

Both how long it takes us to herx and how long a herx lasts is very individual per each person. It depends deeply on how many toxins each body has already, how well each body detoxes, the size of dose increases, as well as how large of a load of bacteria/protozoa each body has.

I'm one that herxes pretty easy, generally - but once in a while, I end up not herxing until much later in the process of ramping up a dose. If we take a med/herb and we start feeling an increase in symptoms or new symptoms, it's best to think herx, and increase your detoxing first. While it may not be a herx (it could be a flare of symptoms from something we are not taking into consideration), the extra detoxing almost never hurts us, and may help in keeping a herx under control.

If extra detoxing doesn't help, then it's time to lower the doses. Sometimes we try to push through dose ramp ups faster than our body can handle - and that leads us into a herx, even on very small doses.

But, extra detoxing and dose lowering should help alleviate increased symptoms within a few weeks. If it has not subsided by then, it's time to talk to your LLMD, as a general rule.
