Dr rawls does phone consults. Has anybody ever done them? Any opinions on doing that as a way of treatment?

It seems that phone consults, skype and emails are becoming the way for many urban people to get to the doctor. I wonder what the future holds????

I am a fan of Rawls. Here is my reasoning, he treats getting rid of lyme and his basic protocol also takes care of a lot of the co-infections. His idea is not to just kill lyme but help heal the body so it is strong enough to fight off the bacteria.

I don't think you ever are "rid" of lyme. I think it is a microbe that many may have with no symptoms. They have no symptoms because their body is strong and keeping the microbe under control. Something comes along - a system disrupter.

If immune function falters for any reason, the natural aggressiveness of these microbes is no longer contained. The microbes are then able to manipulate immune messengers (called cytokines) in the body to generate inflammation. Inflammation breaks down tissues, allowing microbes to have access to the vital nutrients they need to survive.

Because each microbe has a slightly different strategy for manipulating the immune system, and each microbe may target different resources, symptoms are highly variable and seemingly unrelated to each other (chronic lyme is a little different for every person).

Disruption of immune function sets up a vicious cycle. The lapse of immune function allows reactivation of herpes-type viruses, such a Epstein-Barr virus, cytomegalovirus, and others that have been dormant in tissues (we all have these too). The lapse also affects gut microbes, allowing overgrowth of Candida (yeast) and other potentially harmful bacteria.

You can think of it as a covered pot boiling over on the stove. ......... Symptoms occur because the immune system can no longer keep a lid on things. The severity of symptoms depends on the degree of immune dysfunction, the types of stealth microbes present, and the burden they cause on the microbiome.

The above is from his book, Unlocking Lyme.

I find it fascinating that he says the primary players are Mycoplasma, Bartonella and Chlamydia species. The higher virulence microbes, Babesia, Anaplasma, Ehrilichia and Richettsia are more apt to cause acute illness and less apt to be associated with chronic. He does say that if these last 4 are suspected, that immediate therapy should be taken and there should be no waiting for the test results (which may be unreliable).

He says there is a lot of research to be done and that testing can often be misleading because of its fallibility.

I love the way he writes. It is easy to read and such a common sense approach.

I've asked this before...but never got an answer.

When I go to his site...I don't see a Bartonella or Babesia treatment.

Does he have one...and I'm missing it?

Here are a few references to Bartonella and Babesia on RawlsMD.com:

Bartonella
/rawlsmd.com/health-articles/understanding-bartonella
/rawlsmd.com/herbs/chinese-skullcap
/rawlsmd.com/herbs/resveratrol

Babesia

/rawlsmd.com/herbs/cinchona-bark

From what little bit I scanned, it seems he feels that Bartonella typically resolves in most (not all) people, as they support their overall healing. As for Babesia, he seems to suggest people follow the conventional antibiotic therapy - which may include triple antibiotic therapy.

If we can get help with a phone consult it would certainly be a lot less expensive and much more convenient!! I might call the office and get some info!!

I will keep you all posted if I find out anything.

So I emailed and after a few 'back and forth' emails - the Rep said for Bartonella and Babesia, he'd recommend the Advanced Biotic.

It's part of the Restore kit ( for lyme)

He said to address the immune system and that's what the Advanced Biotic formula does.

I'm not sure that the herbs in the Advanced Biotic is 'enough' for Bart and Babs.
