Anyone tried shoes with these supports? I've been wearing some Dansko's the last few days and they seem to be helping. Since the foot pain cycles, I'm not sure if it's the shoes or if I'm on an upswing, so was wondering if anyone else has tried them? They seem to be helping my lower back and glute pain too.

In the summer when I had foot pain from lyme I wanted to wear sandals and flip flops. I went to the Orthoticshop online and bought my shoes. I actually think it was beneficial. But, like you, I wondered. At least even if it didn't help the symptom, I was doing something good for my feet, legs and back.

They are pricey, but not any worse than all the meds and herbs! I'm hoping this keeps helping. The feet pain is one of my worse symptoms remaining.

Kat,
I haven't tried them but sounds good. Do you have a link or picture of what you're referring to?

Walking by Faith - I usually buy mine from The Walking Company. They have stores and online. Dansko and Abeo have been my go-to brands. If you can find a store, they actually scan your foot to determine the best orthotic for you (I've only had neutral or metatarsal). A few years ago I had plantar fasciitis, and that was the only thing that helped. I would get Dansko or Abeo brand plus a specialized orthotic, all for around $200 a pair!

I had forgotten about these, but this time I ordered a Dansko pair online with the metatarsal support built-in. There was a sale so it was only $99 and I didn't order a special orthotic. My feet are almost flat, and the metatarsal support which is usually for high arches, is seeming to supplement what is missing from my feet. I was having a really bad flare where instead of only hurting in the mornings, they were hurting whenever I was off them for a few minutes. So I don't know if the flare is over or if these are helping, but my lower back feels better too. Dansko's are the brands a lot of nurses use. The Walking Company has a fairly good sale section online, but not all have the metatarsal support. It will say it if it's there.

I used to order orthaheel slippers on amazon - similar concept. Those would break down fairly quickly though.
