Well, it’s Babs attack night. Exactly 3 months since my last one. Trying to keep myself calm through it, so I’m just going to stay up and spend the night on the forum.

Shivering like mad. Just took my temp and it’s 95.5 under arm.

Little bit of air hunger and STOMACH hunger! Looked at my notes from the last one, and then too for a few days before, I was insatiably hungry. I’m ravenous. I feel like I’m eating all the time, but my diet is so limited maybe it just feels like I’m stuffing my face when I’m really not.

Jittery feelings most of the evening. They finally calmed down and I went to sleep thinking it was over, but woke up in half an hour jolted awake, like my heart stopped beating or I stopped breathing. Or both. Waves of dizziness.

I had to stop abx recently bc of gut issues. Been trying to get back on Malarone but things won’t stabilize long enough for me to feel comfortable adding anything else.

I started Agrisept-L this week, which is citrus seed extracts, including GSE, for Candida. Wondering if that’s causing me to herx?

Anyone ever find an explanation of what this is? What is happening in my body this one particular night every 3-4 months when I can’t sleep, my whole body shivers, I can’t breath, my heart simultaneously feels like it’s pounding yet stopped beating? Maybe I don’t want to know! Then again it could help rather than imagining all kinds of scary possibilities.

Every 3 months - I have no idea.

It sounds like Babesia, but why every 3 months??

has it happened more than twice?

I remember reading about several month cycles which is how I suspected Babs in the first place:

“a relapsing form of the illness with a recurring cycle happening every several months is common.”
-Rawls (https://rawlsmd.com/health-articles/understanding-babesia)

I feel like I’ve seen this elsewhere but can’t find it now. Also, it’s said you must treat at least 4 months bc of the cycle or whatever...

Every time I have an appointment I feel good and say symptoms are improving (they are) and my docs say we’re almost done with Babesia treatment... then a few days or a week later this massive panic attack happens, I freak out, try feverishly to get hold of my doc, and by then it passes and we just continue on as usual.

They are getting less and less severe. A combo, I think, of treatment and knowing what it is and using mechanisms to calm down instead of fearing the unknown.
1. It’s babesia. I’m not crazy, I saw it in the microscope.
2. My blood tests have all been fine. I read everyone’s experience, and from my own the one time I DID call 911, the paramedics came and said my vitals were fine, oxygen level totally normal. It’s not going to kill me.
3. I get through it every time, shorter and shorter- I’m healing. I’ll get to sleep soon.
4. Own it. It’s happening, stay up, talk through it, share my feelings.
5. Read - articles (not the scary ones), news, scripture, a book, whatever to distract me.
6. Sing in my head or put on headphones of soothing music, pray, imagine myself on the Mediterranean.
7. Get up and walk. Get the blood flowing, oxygen moving.
8. Lavender oil.
9. Wrap myself in blankets, allow myself to shake and rock if I need to.

My temp is up one full degree. I feel normal now and it’s only 3 am. Record time!

I was just thinking of Babesia and having to treat for 4 months because of the life of the red blood cell - Babesia resides in the rbc - or something like that.
But not sure how that would translate into flares of every 3-4 months.

Could the GSE be releasing stuff you're not killing?

This sounds scary -- glad it passed quickly!

Dunno.
Happening again tonight. It’s bradycardia- my HR is low, like 54, so blood’s not flowing fast enough, my temp drops (went to 95.3 tonight)? I get dizzy and jittery. I’m so tired but as soon as I lay down my HR slows and I jolt awake trying to breath. Typical Babs, but why on a cycle?

It helps to put my feet up and get the blood flowing, do headstands (or my weird Lymie version of them). Move around, get things pumping. But eventually I have to SLEEP. I’m so tired!

I'm sorry that happened again. sad Did you get some sleep?

You know more than I do, but I would suggest stopping the GSE until you can start abx again. I was taking a biofilm buster (not the same, but releasing spirochetes) while not on abx last summer and gave myself a major relapse (and then a huge herx when I started abx again).

Hope tonight is better!

Have you tried adding a natural protocol (ei. Steven Buhner's protocol for Lyme and coinfections) to your conventional protocol (antibiotics, etc.)?
Diagnosed with Lyme Disease officially in 12/2017 (Western Blot, C10 ELISA, C6 Ag/Peptide.
Sxs: First time I noticed symptoms were in 09/2017, but suspect I had it for a while before that time.
IgeneX: Babesia - pos (but barely tested pos.)
IgeneX: Bartonella - pos (but barely tested pos.), although FISH test pos.
Quest: Mycoplasma pneumoniae - IgG positive.
Tx: started in Jan. 2018.

Does anyone know why babs would cause drops in temp like that? I just posted separately about weird chills I'm now thinking are a babs herx from the replies. My temp was also low but not that low.

I'm curious though if you've ever tested for brucella too -- it very much has up and down patterns, (relapsing fever patterns, etc.) though I've never heard of the 3 month thing. There is something called the "doyo season" in TCM that is basically an every three month pattern though, basically where the immune system dips every three months. I wonder if reinforcing around that time w/ some kind of TCM strategy (herbs, acupuncture, chi gung?) would help.

I did get a little more sleep last night than the night before. I’m backing off the Agrisept (GSE) and will hopefully start Malarone next week. Upping my detox to try to control it if it’s a herx.

I’m at the point where abx (I’m looking at you, Doxy) have destroyed my gut and I’m so sensitive to conventional meds (corn based fillers and binders) that I think I need to transition to a more natural route. If the Agrisept was a herx, I’m impressed by the power of herbs. Just been reading that people do use it to specifically go after Babs, so it may very well have been too much too soon.
