I've been using the EWG for over a decade. While not perfect, it's an excellent resource I use for when I am switching/researching products. I highly recommend it!
I had been using the Crystal stick for years, and I am aware of the very few articles that claim it may not be as safe as we had hoped.
I did switch to some natural brands. Primal Paste was highly recommended to me at the time (some years back), but I wasn't a big fan. Schmidts was gaining popularity, and I can't recall if I used that one yet.
But instead, I focused on the "pit cleanse/detox". Admittedly, I only did it a few times, and it helped. In fact, I rarely would need to use deodorant after that (sometimes in the summer). I dress in layers.
I have never used an anti-antiperspirant because I have felt it was unhealthy to try to stop your body from sweating. It seemed counter-intuitive to me.
Not sure there was much talk about
a pit cleanse/detox yet on this thread. If not, this article does a good job giving a high level about
For those who switch from commercial to more natural deodorants, they may see a worsening of symptoms due to imbalance of bacteria in the pits from the use of commercial deodorants. Doing a pit cleanse/detox can help. I personally just used raw ACV a few times, and it made a difference for me. I have also used baking soda too a few times (I did not react negatively to it), but it is indeed a big messy to use! But worked fine for me.
Good luck! I'm very passionate about
living with less chemicals / more natural choices.
Kid#1: Extremely sick for several years, very difficult to treat, but doing great now!
Kid#2: Still sick now despite being treated for years but doing better (not well yet).
Kid#3: Generally good but relapsing off/on.
Me: Adv Labs positive 2016 (suspected I passed to my kids)-not as sick as others, mostly battling fatigue and yeast issues (heart/kidney issues resolved)
Treating with herbals now.
