Currently in the middle of a massive flare caused by catching a bad cold last week. By far the most debilitating symptoms are a worsening of my dp/dr and severe scary brain fog, as well as a sort of trippy disorganised feeling (confusion, random nonsensical thoughts). I also have a lot of pressure in my head and suspect some kind of brain swelling.

Now I realise that ultimately the best way to get rid of this is to keep treating for lyme/co infections but does anyone have any suggestions for herbs or supplements that have provided at least some small relief from these kinds of symptoms? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you!

I would up yor detoxing and consider using a brain detox such as Jernigan antioxidants cns/pns or some use pinnella and burber. Sida acuta helped me with head pressure also. Check for side effects and contradictions take care Jo

You can also use things like turmeric, ginger, quercetin and kudzu root for the brain fog - although I would suggest that you still increase your detoxing, as Goshawk suggested.

Clunky- brain fog has many possible reasons with and even without lyme.

Besides the aforementioned detoxing, I will add state of liver health has a direct effect on brain function.

Low thyroid levels are a known cause to brain fog, and these infections are known to throw of the thyroid in quite a few of us, usually its temporary, but still good to get it tested. TSH, free T3 and free T4 are the tests.

Thyroid hormone "fuels" EVERY cell in your body. So all organs are affected and the blood/brain chemistry they influence, this includes depression, anxiety and cognitive function.

Brain chemistry can also be off from the debris and toxicity of lyme itself an an organism in us. There is currently a very lengthy post on this, which was successful with two members here.

Also lastly, "Lyme brain" is for most of us, just an over used term, but in some cases, it is in your brain. This usually has very severe symptoms much greater than "fog".

I purchased nutrimedix burbur-pinella I think this is supposed to help with that. I also used it when I was having severe symptoms, it also seemed to lessen them.
