My Lyme Doc is prepping me for a month before I start treatment. One of the things he is giving me is Nystatin for candida. I'm on day 4 of it and I feel worse than what I did on antibiotics. The herxing is bad. A little background is I haven't been able to tolerate antibiotics very good I finally got to see this Doctor and I'm supposed to be starting treatment in a month but I thought all this stuff he has me on was going to make me feel better enough so I could start treatment, not worse. Is Nystatin necessary? I'm sure I have Candida because of the fact I'm herxing off of it. But it just makes me worse. And I'm supposed to be taking this during my treatment as well I just don't know how I'm going to do it.

Its best to stay on it while on abx. He may also try a short course of Diflucan after you start to improve to see if candida has become systemic. I rotated between the two often and sometime rely on herbals for maintenance. NOW brand Candida Support is popular for maintenance.

Other herbals include:

sliced garlic in capsules in AM
wheatgrass juice
oil of oregano
Seagate brand Olive Leaf Extract
colloidal silver
pau'd arco
GSE
ACV

goshawk - posted this on the duplicate thread:

Make sure your detoxing and drinking lots of water with lemon water.

Keep track of everything that is happening and make sure to talk to your llmd about it.

There is also good information on yeast in our new to Lyme thread that might be helpful.

Im not familiar with taking Nystatin but this will bump up the post and hopefully others will have some info.

Hope you get some relief soon, take care, Jo

Traci - you had two identical threads going...so I deleted the second one.

I have copied and pasted goshawk's response from the deleted thread.

Aww...no worries.

I've been there with the memory issues, too...off and on.

Thank goodness the past few months there's been an improvement.
