Hi all,
I got sick in July, started feeling flu-ish...loss of appetite and dizzy/nausea which turned into severe back pain and chest pain, and had numbness/tingling in my left arm for almost 2 weeks. Was originally diagnosed with chronic pain in my neck (have been seeing a physio weekly for joint stiffness in my neck). Things started to resolve a few weeks after but haven't felt back to normal since. Have good weeks and bad weeks and RBI ha seem to be getting better, however, every 4-6 weeks I seem to get stomach flu symptoms that only last about 4-6 hours and are made better by sleeping it off. I do not recall being but recently but found ticks on our clothes when hiking in April. None that I picked off skin and no bulls eye rash. However, as a kid we had a cabin and were constantly picking ticks out of our skin. I was recently in the U.K. And decided to test to rule things out, but now am confused by my results. Also, if this is a positive result, does anyone from Canada have any advice on where to seek treatment? Especially since I tested negatively for both ELISA and Western Blot, and those are they only tested viewed as gold standard in Canada. My doctors diagnosis is that I caught a bad virus and it may take up to a year to get it fully out of my system. Is it still possible this is the cause or is it definitely Lyme? Frustrating as I have been feeling better lately!

Any help much appreciated!!!

Hi Carrie!
Welcome to our community!

From what I understand about your test results, you tested positive on the Elispot, so there's little doubt you have Lyme at least.

As for the Band 41 that you tested positive for, it will only happen if you have a spirochetal disease, and that list is fairly short - a couple of Borrelia (Lyme) infections, Yaws, Pintas, Leptospirosis, and Syphilis.

If you haven't yet, it would be helpful for you to start with reading through the thread at the top of the forum titled,"New to Lyme?...Start here!!", as it is packed full of important information, symptom lists, helpful links and pdf's, how to detox when one has these infections, information on probiotics and much more. And, here's another good place to find helpful detoxing routines:

There are only a few LLMD's in Canada that are practicing, but there are some LLND's that you can get in to see.You can send me an email by clicking on my screen name or the small blue envelope under my screen name. I may have contact information for some LLND's in your area. Please include your province and area that you would like to find a LLND in and I will see how close I can get to your location. If I don't have any listed, then I will encourage you to email Girlie (the moderator that is usually here), as she lives "up there" and has a much better understanding of what's available and the distance. You can also send her an email now, but she won't be able to answer it for another few days, as she's out of town for an appointment.

Here are some other options as well:
You can start a new thread titled something like "Looking for LLMD in the (insert the nearest larger city & state) area". Members can email you about the LLMD's that they see in that area if you have your email enabled. We don't allow doctors names to be posted though.

You can go to The Lyme Disease Association and search for LLMD's 3 times in a month. You have to register first. Here is the link:

You can email the Tick-Borne Disease Alliance at:

ILADS has their own referral system as well:
