Hi guys!

Can i combine three drugs to beat bartonella? Plaquenil, rifabutin and bactrim? And what dossage? I don't want to kill myself... but i don't have any help with my doctors. I have a lot of pain and pressure in my stomach... can it be related from bart? I've recived gadolinium three days later and i'm worried about SFN. I don't know if my kindeys are falling....

oriolCarol - I have seen Rifabutin with Bactrim...but I don't know much about Plaquenil.

I did plug those three into the Drug Interaction checker I use and got this:

Interactions between your drugs
Minor
sulfamethoxazole hydroxychloroquine
Applies to: Bactrim DS (sulfamethoxazole / trimethoprim), Plaquenil (hydroxychloroquine)
Consumer information for this minor interaction is not currently available. Some minor drug interactions may not be clinically relevant in all patients. Minor drug interactions do not usually cause harm or require a change in therapy.

You can call your pharmacist. They should be able to give you an answer.

What makes you think your kidneys are failing? The pain/pressure in your stomach?
If you're concerned...ask to have kidney function tests done.

Get the kidney function tests done...and also ask for liver function tests. These tests should be done regularly when we're taking antibiotics.

These infections (lyme/bart/babs..etc) can affect our organs...yes.
stomach, kidneys, liver, spleen...etc.can become swollen.

I just had an appointment with my new LL practitioner...and she pressed on both sides of my abdomen...for swelling of the liver and spleen. So, yes, it can happen.

When did this start? Did you start something new, or increase a dose of anything, even if it was for detoxing?

Not that I don't believe you, but here are some possibilities that don't include your kidneys -
Could you be experiencing a lot of gas or constipation instead?
The liver is also nearby and we often experience pain and pressure when it's overloaded with toxins too - is that possible?

No matter what the cause is, it's obvious that you should speak with your doctor first thing Monday morning, unless they happen to have office hours today.

Hoping that you aren't in too much pain and discomfort!!!!

I am worried about the dose of gadolinium administered for the mri of the heart, but they already hurt me before the gadolinium. I have numbness in my stomach now, a lot of ramps.... it's so weird... i can't explain it.

Can you reach your doctor or someone else in their office today? If so, please call them now. Don't wait. If they aren't in today, then call first thing Monday morning and speak to them. There is a reason for this, even if it's not the gadolinium.

With 'normal' kidney function, gadolinium is supposed to be out of the body within 24 hours - but there are some risks associated with it's use. I surely don't want to add fear into this, so I won't post about the 'possibilities', but I would encourage you to not wait. Gadolinium is a heavy metal, so it can cause issues, especially if your liver or kidneys were compromised at the time.

Bartonella is notorious for impacting stomach, esp.

W/ gadolinium, my doctor recommended taking cilantro tincture daily for several weeks or longer to get any residue out of my system: seemed to really help (Herb Pharm is brand I used).

I went to ER. They said me that it was internal cystitis. My creatinine levels are fine and my urea etc...

Today I started with sida acutta, cryptoletis, milk thistle, bactrim and i need another antibiotic to push bartonella but i can't use rifampin and i can't get rifabutin in Spain and i have stopped minocycline a lot of times and i'm not sure if it has become resistant to bartonella... with this treatment i want to hit babesia both

I've restarted rifampin 3 times and i think that it become resistant, like minocycline to treat bartonella... i can't use biaxin and other because i have a long QT.

Is it possible they said Interstitial cystitis instead? If so, that's painful bladder symptoms - not kidneys. I would still encourage you to talk to your Lyme literate doctor.

I don't know if you still have other options for treating with Pharma abx, but there's still the option of treating with herbs if you are interested.
