So I am not feeling great and not sure if it's Lyme or if I am getting the flu. It does feel like it might be flu as it feels a little different but today is day 1. I went and bought some Oscillococcinum to take and have been taking oil of orgegano and my question is if I take a binder like modified citrus pectin or activated charcoal does that help flush out the flu virus at all if it is the flu?

Watch for a fever, chills, aches, congestion.

NAC, Sida acuta, Andrographis can help with the flu.

Many use just elderberry to help withe flu.

You would need to check for side effects and contradictions.

Hope you feel better soon.

Thank you goshawk. My body temp is a pretty consistent 96 degrees all the time these days so not sure I can even get a fever sad

No chills yet, just kind of achey and do not feel well. I am hoping I wake up tomorrow feeling better and it's just the usual lyme but with the flu everywhere I am worried it's the flu.

If it is the flu, I don't want to give it to my son so making him stay away from me for the most part and making sure he's taking his vitamin and some oscillococcinum as well.

I guess if I still feel bad tomorrow I could go to Walgreen's or Target and get tested for the flu...then at least I would know.

Just my experience but when I got the flu I went from feeling good to feeling like someone took a baseball bat to me ( plus fever) all within 2 hours. The flu kicks hard

Good to know Magoo2. Maybe since I have not progressively gone downhill today it's just the lyme. I always feel like I am about to get super ill with the flu when mine flares so maybe it's just that...

I have recently just started taking modified citrus pectin as I have the HLA gene so could be I am detoxing too fast or something too...

I am reading Buhner's Herbal Antivirals book and he recommends a ginger drink which is 4 oz of ginger juice, 6 oz of water, 1 T honey, 1/2 t. cayenne. It's actually not bad although the last drink makes you smoke through the ears, ha ha. The herbs he recommends are chinese skullcap, isatis, licorice, lomatium, yerba santa, houttuynia, and lomatium. He lists others, but these are the main ones. I also think I have the flu.

Continuing to take binders is fine, I think, and will continue to flush out toxins ...but I doubt if it will shorten the duration of the flu.

So I went to the minute clinic to get tested just in case as my temp this morning was 95.8 (my normal is around that 96 degree mark) and had risen to 98.5 which is unheard of for me over the course of a few hours and I just was not feeling well.

I tested negative for flu but she didn't even want to test me since i didn't have a conventional fever. When I told her my normal temp was around 96 she seemed like she didn't believe me and said that's hypothermia.

Anyways, my glands are swollen and my throat is a tad pink so she said I have a virus but it's not the flu thank goodness. She said to take Oscillococcinum (was surprised to hear her say that) which I am already taking and just rest, drink fluids. She said she recommends the Oscillo over Tamiflu.

Thanks so much to everyone for their input! Anyone else ever get disbelief on their lower body temp?

My body temp is on the low side - 97 to 97.5
Not as low as yours but still lower than it should be.
Mine has always been that way - is your low temp just since Lyme?

yes, mine got low with lyme. I am always cold. I went through a few thermometers thinking mine were broken in the beginning. I even used a mercury one and it sure enough it was 96.

I am getting another thyroid panel run at my next appt. to get that checked again. Every time we do though it comes back normal.

Lol - I’ve had at least three thyroid tests done with the TSH, FT3 and FT4 and always good.

You’re getting the FT3 and FT4 done in the panel right?

I think so but not 100% sure. I know I asked for the full panel, not just the TSH, and she ran that. This time I am having my LLMD run it so she probably knows but will still specify the FT3 and FT4.

Girlie,
I was reading up on T3 and saw that supplementing with zinc and selenium can improve T4 to T3 levels. Have you ever tried those supplements and if so did you notice anything?

No, I haven't - but my FT3 and FT4 are always in the upper end of the ranges...so I don't need to boost them.
