Constant nausea

A functional medicine doc had me start a GI rehab program and I couldn't handle it. Any supplement I took caused havoc in my system and pain. So bad that it sent me to the ER cause I thought I was dying. It also caused my bowels to stop moving completely even with laxatives.

I have now stopped everything but I've had 24/7 nausea the last 5 days. I am having trouble eating anything and I'm constantly dry heaving and bloated. Even smoothies give me extreme nausea. I also get some bad reflux and burning pain.

Any suggestions on how to relieve my nausea? I feel like I've tried everything. Colostrum, zinc carnosine, mastic gum, aloe, ginger, ACV, tons of probiotics, healthy diet, and many other supplements. Thank you

So you were fine before the GI rehab program?

Hopefully, things will settle down soon.

Not sure what to suggest...maybe just do some bone broth for a day or two and see if things settle down.
What is the functional med doc saying? I'd certainly give him a call...or two.

Things were getting bad before I started the program. Things initially improved but then went downhill fast. Testing was negative for H-pylori. I just want things to start moving and not be on the verge of throwing up 24/7.

First of all, I'm so sorry. I know you said you tried ginger, but did you try fresh ginger tea 3 - 4 times a day on a regular basis? That's what it took to get my nausea under some control.

And, if you are in a state where it's legal, try certain strains of cannabis, as it's known to help with nausea from Chemo.

Eat very small amounts many times a day to get enough food into you to help you continue to function. Find foods that don't seem to upset your stomach even further - start with those lovely bland foods.

If the nausea is from the constipation issues (I used to get this off and on too), then getting your bowels to move is key, but I couldn't use laxatives, as it would cause major intestinal cramping for 4 days. Things like prune juice (I had to drink lots for it to help), gentle stool softeners, larger amounts of coconut oil in hot drinks, Aloe daily, high dose magnesium may be needed (I use mag oxide for this).

And, if you can, find out if it's a motility issue, or if it's "just constipation" - I had significant motility issues along with constipation. Once I got the motility issues pretty much under control and the constipation was easier to deal with/relieve.

I have to keep a good combination of things going constantly to avoid constipation issues still, but it's getting better for me.
