Sometimes I notice pink skin around my belly button. Does anyone know what this means?

Is the inside of the naval reddened? If so, you may have a fungal infection which can occur if you don’t dry the area after showering. Lotrisome cream applied daily usually cures it.

Hi, summer16,

I don't notice the inside being red. It's the area on my belly just around the navel. It's not like that all the time. It comes and goes.

Hi WalkingbyFaith, if it comes and goes, and it's a faint red/pinkishness, it sounds like Bart. Does it itch too (before it fades)?

When I shower, one of the things I notice is that upon contact with hot water, I sometimes get reddish streaks on my thighs that come and go (this still happens occasionally- guess they're striae but they don't stay - just come and go.) They also don't have to be shaped like streaks - any reddishness/ pinkishness on the skin, is likely Bart. Again I'm not a med professional but this is just from my experience.

Even when not showering, sometimes I get reddish/pinkish areas on my arms or thighs etc. Since I only have Bart and never had this before in my life, it's definitely a sign of Bart. I don't know if its a way it helps me know where the Bart might be concentrated on - for instance, my thighs, my elbows, etc.
Bart since Sep '16 from cat bite. Cat died days later. Undiagnosed for 9 months. Around July '17 started ABX. Current symptoms: aching knee joints, elbows and swelling. Other symptoms (headaches, severe lymph pain, eye inflammation, vision problems, severe weakness, fevers, etc) mostly gone.

I get pink mottled skin when my bart symptoms are strong. It's mainly on my arms and belly. When I'm feeling pretty good, it looks normal.
MTHTR single mutation; Positive Igenix IgG Jan 2017; March/Apr '17: doxy, Tinizadole. 5/1 samento and mino/tini. 5/28- back to doxy, added activated charcoal. 6/9 - stopped antibiox; staying with samento, red root and houttiya and supps. tried LDN; 8/24 rifampin, samento, red root and supps. On and off rifampin. 1/1/18 - 1/20 rifampin. Herbs and vitamins only now.

Interesting about bart!

My belly button area was itchy for a few weeks, and I didn't know why. It just went away on its own.

Interesting thread! Makes me wonder about bart or possibly yeast (more likely bart, I think).
Kid#1: Extremely sick for several years, very difficult to treat, but doing great now!
Kid#2: Still sick now despite being treated for years but doing better (not well yet).
Kid#3: Generally good but relapsing off/on.
Me: Adv Labs positive 2016 (suspected I passed to my kids)-not as sick as others, mostly battling fatigue and yeast issues (heart/kidney issues resolved)
Treating with herbals now.

Thanks so much for the great responses!

Dollface,
I haven't had itching with it. I notice it most in the shower too.

I'm convinced I've had Lyme and coinfections since birth or early childhood and spent most of my life thinking my symptoms were just part of who I was until I got wild, full blown symptoms at age 39. I'm 48 now and got much worse 3 years ago after a respiratory infection. It's so weird though that while I've been much worse the last few years, the lifelong mottled, splotchy skin has been far less noticeable in the past year.

Anyway, I get paranoid when the pink navel thing pops up, thinking I've got candida or parasites, especially since I haven't been on a clean diet. I'm doing better with the diet but have a long way to go.
