Hi guys!

300mg of rifabutin is similar to 600mg of rifampin?

There is not so much articles talking about it.

Yes, I think that's right.

Are you switching oriolCarol?

Make sure you give each antibiotic enough time to work. (Unless, you're having bad reactions and you need to change)

Hi Girlie!

I'm on rifabutin every time since two weeks, because rifampin increased my liver enzymes...

Now I'm taking mino, rifabutin, and malarone, plus herbs

And another doubt, rifampin is bactericida, and rifabutin? In one page, they say it's bacteriostatic... If it was true, does it means that it doesn't kill the bacteria?

Carol - I thought they were both Bactericidal.

I know that some LLMD's prescribe Rifabutin for Bartonella - often after the patient has tried the Rifampin. It is known to be an effective antibiotic for Bartonella.

Bacteriostatic antibiotics are used for lyme and co's treatment.
I believe tetracyclines are bacteriostatic.

Bacteriostatic abx stops the bacteria from reproducing.
