Hi all,

I'll keep this short cause I'm not doing so well, but basically I just want to warn people that Activated Charcoal does not just get mold out of your body, it gets a LOT of things out of your body.

One of those things are your anti-depressants.

I can't go into the details right now because quite frankly I feel like I got hit by a train this last week after taking charcoal for several days.

You'll just have to take my word for it that it completely depleted my SSRI build up in my brain.

For those who take SSRI's, you should be aware that SSRI's usually don't start working until about 3-4 weeks in.

That's because it builds up in your brain.

Charcoal completely depleted that for me, so now I have to spend the next 3-4 weeks building it back up again. I had withdrawal symptoms that I recognized from the many times I forgot to take my medication.

In bed for 5 days, depressed and crippling anxiety.

Please be careful, and always talk to your doctor before doing something, don't be like me.

Thank you.

Here's proof that they actually give activated charcoal to patients who overdosed on antidepressants (SSRI's), to get it out of their body :

Lymesick - Iā€™m so sorry this happened!

Yes - binders like AC do have the ability to sweep everything out of the digestive tract including medications.

It is recommended that AC is taken two hours away from everything for that reason.
Did you give it that time?

I hope you recover from this soon!

Hi Girlie!

Thank you so much for your nice message!

Yes I actually took it 5 hours apart from medication on both sides (5 hours before and 5 hours after)

The problem is that I don't think Charcoal isn't just confined to the stomach.

I think its systemic, in that it gets everything out of the body.

Hence, why they use it for people that overdose in the ER.

That's my hypothesis anyway!

Thank you again, I'm still a bit shaky and anxious, I hope people who read this can keep me in their prayers, it's been tough and I don't say that lightly.

FLUOXETINE in Prozac may interact with CHARCOAL in Activated Charcoal
Fluoxetine is absorbed into the bloodstream through the gastrointestinal system. Charcoal may reduce the absorption of fluoxetine into the blood and remove fluoxetine that is already in the blood, reducing the effectiveness and possibly helping prevent toxic levels of fluoxtine if too much is taken. Charcoal is most commonly used as an antidote to remove medications from the blood when too much of a medication is taken or overdosed. Ask your healthcare provider about these drugs and this potential interaction as soon as possible.

I had read that it has limited effect on what's in the blood stream....and also discussed with my LLND at the time...and he gave me the 'go ahead' to take it.

Yikes, I'll definitely reconsider using this when I'm taking my antibiotics....

Good grief - something else to worry about.

I hope it doesn't take more than a few days to get your blood levels up again and you get relief soon....
