I wonder if the ringing sensation is from tinnitus?

Whatever it is - with the ants crawling on it sensation - sounds nerve related.

I had pulsatile tinnitus.....I didn't know what it was for over a year. When I put my ear on the pillow - there's a swooshing sound in time with my heart beat.

It's gone now (well 95% gone)

yes, I have severe ear issues.

Only thing that helped was me making my own diy ABX ear drops and using that. Got hold of some bactrim, dissolved it in water, then put some drops in my ears 2x day.

worked great, although this is NOT on label use of this drug, so no one should probably do it. Doxy dissolves in water also, thats next thing I wlll try. Again, NOT recommending anyone do this, just reporting what I am doing.

I also have ringing in the ears. Right around thanksgiving it got progressively worse with hearing loss in my right ear. I was taking several antibiotics at the time, azithromycin being one of them. I switched to clarithromycin and it seemed to help with the hearing loss but I still have the ringing. I have also noticed it gets worse when I take my supplements including herbals. It can be exhausting as it's unrelenting but I figure if the treatment leads to remission then it is worth it. Hope yours resolves before long..

I got tinnitus from azithromycin and bactrim, including that ringing with loud noises.

I also was taking bactrim and amoxicillin along with the azithromycin. I have since dropped the bactrim, that coupled with switching to clarithromycin has certainly helped. Dealing with Lyme and friends is bad enough, it's too bad many of these meds have such terrible side effects.

Had awful ear problems for 18 months, the swooshing sound as soon as my head touched the pillow, feeling of waterlogged ears, periods where I lost my hearing, nodules behind ears, it was really awful. The last 6 months this has vastly improved, returns slightly if I get too tired or stressed. I put improvement down to herbal treatment for lyme and bart and vinpocetine max strength supplements.

When I first started to decline, my ears were among the first things to be hit the hardest. Tinnitus, inflammation, feelings of pressure, fluid. Much like what Suzee described. I can't say I lost my hearing, though. More of a muffling.

I hate saying anything has worked for me, because I don't want to jinx it. I'm superstitious in that right, I guess.

Though, I no longer use these products, so I shouldn't exactly be too concerned in that regard.

At the time, what was the early portion of Cowden's protocol: Samento and Banderol.

They knocked it right out, whatever it was. Probably the best improvement of certain symptoms I've gotten from any treatment. Shame that they didn't want to work as well, or as consistently, on the rest.

I still have tinnitus, to some degree, but it's not anywhere near as bad. A little Eustachian tube dysfunction, as well.

Definitely helped, though.

Thought I'd share the experience.
Do the work, be the prize.
