There are a few here who lost weight and muscle, this might help.

If your gut is not in the best shape, these might work better than trying to get these from digesting animal protein.

Note: If you have type II Diabetes, or are obese, you should be aware that high levels of protein or BCAA's are associated with elevated blood glucose levels in these conditions.

/www.amazon.com/Master-Pattern-1000mg-Tablets-Building/dp/B007W2RVHY/ref=as_li_ss_tl?ie=UTF8&qid=1507239984&sr=8-1-spons&keywords=master+amino+acid+pattern&psc=1&linkCode=sl1&tag=ttfw-20&linkId=8897de3a3126b1599f0e3f55025bda07

It contains the popular BCAA's (Branched Chain Amino Acids - leucine, isoleucine, and valine), which you normally get from animal protien. These build muscle.

Also contains a few other aminos which are also part of the brain neurotransmitter cycle - that's why the Amazon reviews vary in how they made people "feel" not just physical muscle change. From what I know of these- In a balanced nuero methalation cycle, the possible felt effects of these aminos should balance each other out.

I have not tried these as I use veggie protein powder coupled with exercise. But there are theories that veggie protein is not as effective. Animal protein (meat, milk based or powder) is more effective, but it takes great gut health to accomplish this. People here dont have great gut health.

"Pros" to animal protein are best fitted to a perfectly operating, sometimes young, body. There are "cons" to high volume animal protein- more as we age. Cons being digestion issues and blood sugar metabolism / insulin resistance (type II Diabetes) from animal fat. The new "thing" is that we need animal fat, but most westerners get enough without trying.. Again, thats with a perfect efficiently working body, so not for everyone..

Thyroid note: Protein of any type binds to T4 Thyroid hormone replacement med in the stomach. Its best to take thyroid T4 first to let that absorb at least one hour before protien. If you eat protien first, you need to wait 3-4 hours before thyroid med can be taken. To avoid this, I use natural thyroid since it can be taken sublingual and will not combine with stomach contents.

astroman or anyone,

Is there a way to get more amino acids or other means of collagen protection without arginine?

After almost a year of avoiding amino acid supplements, I tried a small amount of bone broth for 3 days and promptly resurrected shingles.

The one I listed does not have arginine in it, its also more for muscle not collagen. Lysine is supposudly good for collagen.

Most people looking to support callagen take Gelatin in some form or Glucosamine.
