How does building up the immune system work, if Lyme is built to evade the immune system? Is something else involved? What do you take to build up your immune system, whats the easiest way(s)?
Tried abx and iv abx for 2 yrs, now trying herbs; Chronic Tonic (bottled) CSA formula, JK, Houttunia, Andrographis, Cats Claw, Oil of Oregano

Extreme fatigue, dizziness, head pressure, 1 seizure, ringing ears, crawling sensations everywhere, throat pain, groin pain, very cold hands/feet, joint pain, sole pain, body/muscle spasms, teeth/gum pain, constipation, depression, panic attacks

If we knew the answer, no one would be sick.

Your specific immune system strength is about your gut health and immune gene expression.

Leaky gut / candida protocals show up here every month, the goggling for this is endless.

"Is something else involved?" - yes, your genes, and your environment. "Environment" physical (mold, chemicals) and mental (stress) - you can influence that.

Without confusing details- stress hormones (adrenal health) have a direct bio-chemical effect in our bodies. Mold is obviously bad.

To change or influence gene "expression" you need to first identify them with gene testing. MTHFR (more than one version) is a big deal with some people and can be tested individually to see if yours are expressed or activated, possibly causing issues. Goggle it. Correcting this wont cure people but apparently helps some. More will be known about genes in the future. There are even genes that can be activated and lower your immune system- they dont have any simple ways to switch them back yet other than reversing whatever cause it to activate.

What I read somewhere (I think in Buhner's book) is that there are two different ways your immune system works, and your immune system gets stuck in only one type when you have Lyme, and taking the usual immune-boosting herbs like astragulus isn't a good idea. However, he does say that your immune system goes the other way when you have bartonella.

It's very confusing. I just take astragulus on and off (since I have bart too), and try to eat a good diet. I feel like andrographis has done the most to boost my immune system.

I've also heard of different mushrooms like reishi and cordyceps being good for your immune system. I tried cordyceps, but I noticed an increase of hyperactivity/inability to focus type symptoms for some reason.

I am skeptical about immune boosting things because I tried a treatment that was supposed to boost my immune system and it made me sicker.

Lyme suppress immune function T cells, (which is part of what I mentioned previously). CD57 test measures Natural Killer cells and T cells.

Bart alone is not strong enough to suppress T cells in a lab setting, but in your body it might do this based on your overall state of health.

Cancer increases immune function cells and activity.

I was about to ask this same thing, what is everyone's favorite immune boosting herbs...

I am sick again with a virus for the 2nd time in two weeks, possibly strep this time. I have got to get my immune system stronger.

Heal your gut first. Immune herbs wont work well if your gut is not A OK.

Detoxing is different, and helpful, its liver function.
